McDonalds Euro Fantasy – Some thoughts on the semis and player options

The fixtures

Here’s the fixtures from the BBC website in UK times:

Transfer rules

Number of free transfers

Semi-finals: 6
Final: 6

You can use your transfers up to the point of the Wednesday Portugal/Wales game. After that it’s subs and captain changes only.  The lineups for the Wales Portugal game will probably be out an hour before

You may still have a wildcard if you’re lucky

Top attacking point scorers

It’s worth mentioning that Ramsey is suspended for the semi’s and Draxler did not start against Italy

Top attacking ownership

The key point of ownership is that if a high ownership player scores then your rank will be affected.  It’s always hard to be exact over where the line of transferring a player is on ownership ground.  This is especially so in the case of this competition as I imagine the amount of teams not being actively managed is huge

Player Options

Remember you can make up to 6 free transfers before the Portugal/Wales kickoff and the lineups should be out around an hour before

I’m probably backing Portugal as the most likely team to get a clean sheet.  I think clean sheets for the other 3 teams will be difficult.  Predicting how the Portugal defence will lineup in the semis and then the finals if they progress will be difficult so I would suggest waiting for the lineups.  GK Patricio of Portugal though is good value.  I think I will spread the Germany and France defence

Renato Sanches – Portugal £4.4m if starts

Ozil  – Germany £8.5m

Payet – France £8.1m

Pogba – France £8.5m

Kroos – Germany £7.0m

Ronaldo – Portugal £12.0m

Nani – Portugal £7.5m

Bale  – Wales £10.5m

Muller – Germany £10.5m

Giroud – France £8.5m

Griezmann – France £10.0m

Some stats

I wont be making transfers until the teams are announced tomorrow which will be roughly an hour before kick off which is 8pm.  If you’re interested I’ll only put them on twitter @fantasyfoot20 then

Draxler didn’t start against Italy purely because of the change of system Germany employed for that match. With Hummels suspended and Gomez out injured, I would imagine Germany going back to 4-2-3-1, with Goetze or Draxler playing as a striker.
