“Meet the FFGeeks” – meet Hassan Ashas
Hi Hassan, you’ve been coming to the site and commenting alot recently so I thought of you for the “meet the FFGeeks” series . Tell us a bit about yourself?
I am Hassan Ashas, 17 years old from Faisalabad, Pakistan. I am medical student currently studying in a college. I have been supporting FC Barcelona from some time. Apart from Barcelona, I follow some Spanish sides however, I don’t like any top BPL side. Unfortunately, football isn’t very popular in my country and because of this, I don’t know much about football that is being played in Pakistan. However, I do kind of support a local club here in Faisalabad named as Wolverine FC. It’s just a street football team… Besides Football, I am a follower of Cricket which is the most popular game in Pakistan. My favorite food is ‘Paya’ ( it’s a traditional food of sub-continent ). I must also say that I love fish and several fruits.
How long have you been playing FPL and what is your motivation?
I started playing FPL this year. I have my own kind of strategy, the strategy which has given me many ups and downs by now, haha. My motivation is definitely to finish as much higher as possible in the overall rank… Apart from overall rank, I am also aiming to win a mini-league which includes two of my friends and fortunately, I am currently leading it by a big distance. I am also taking part in one another competition in facebook and that’s the competition which I want to win the most. My team currently sits at fifth position ( total teams are twenty ). However, we will go up this week hopefully
Show us your team and your rank history?
This is Hassan’s first season so no history. Great gameweek so far by the way
Do you have an overall playing strategy?
I have my own strategy. I don’t like to have cheap defenders and I also don’t take in bandwagons…
My strategy is simple… Make an all rounded team with all good 15 players having best fixtures in the coming gameweeks. I have a bad habit of ignoring form and taking in differential players. This has costed me and has also given me an advantage at different points. I don’t like cheap defense… I always try to get defenders with best fixtures in the coming gameweeks. However, I don’t take in the expensive defender of some team if a cheaper option is available. I mainly take defenders for cleansheets. And I personally avoid having Aguero because of his big price but I know it will cost me. But I still avoid him… I just like to have players looking good for the next gameweek ( fixture wise ).
Do you play any other formats of the game or other fantasy sports.
I played UCL Fantasy but didn’t like their system so left it. Now, I only play FPL
Your best ever/worst ever fantasy moment
As I am new to FPL, I don’t really have that type of best and worst moments..
But as of now, I think the worst moment for me was taking in Ivanovic ( a very costly defender ), Fabregas and Hazard at start of the season, as they were defending champions… They really costed me many points and I lost some money there as well… Then I also kept Hazard for some time, taking him out for Pedro and again bringing him in place of Pedro… He didn’t do anything and I lost many points because of him.
I also played triple captain chip on Hazard in first gameweek. I didn’t know that this chip can be used only once and because of this, I wasted my chip in the very first week on a player who only got 2 points in that week
Best moment? I consider myself pretty unlucky at the moment. Maybe, my strategy isn’t good at all… My best moment was probably when I only scored 26 in GW 9 when other scored a lot more points. It was a very disappointing week for me but I still managed to beat my opponent in a competition of Facebook. He scored only 24, I don’t know how ( and I scored 26 only because of Dawson goal or else it would have been only 20, lol )… In fact, I was the one with second worst score in that competition.
Your favourite fantasy player and player who consistently has let you down
Personally, I have no favorite player.. Maybe, I like Butland a little bit.
Hazard is the player who consistently let me down. I kept faith in him for like 7 weeks but he didn’t do anything and I even played triple captain chip on him… I transferred him out and again transferred him in but again, he was poor.
