Sky Sports Fantasy Football – 5 transfer options for this weekend

Sky Sports Fantasy Football’s final international interruption of the calendar year has come and gone, with several names making cases for consideration over the break.

While many high-profile players sat the week out, Romelu Lukaku and Olivier Giroud returned to the goals, while the likes of Aaron Mooy and Christian Eriksen secured their places at next summer’s World Cup.
With plenty of Premier League stars in action for their countries, here are five who could continue their international form into club duties this weekend.

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku ended his seven-match scoring drought over the international break, finding the net twice against Mexico and scoring the only goal in Belgium’s win over Japan.

That leaves him perfectly poised for an impressive display at home to Newcastle on Saturday evening, against whom he already has a fantastic record.
The Belgian not only has five goals in his eight meetings with the Magpies, but he’s also provided more assists against them than any other opposition, with four to his name.

David Silva

Both Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero scored over the international break, but David Silva is the consistent figure in Manchester City’s attack who is worth your Sky Sports Fantasy Football cash.

While Pep Guardiola often alternates between the two strikers, as well as the rest of his attack, Silva has started every match this season – returning seven assists, one goal and nine passing bonuses from those 11 games.

He continued his fine form over the break with two goals and an assist against Costa Rica, and regardless of the XI picked by Guardiola this week, Silva is certain to be an influential inclusion as City’s free-scoring attack visit Leicester.

Alexandre Lacazette

Despite six goals in his first nine Premier League starts, criticism of an underwhelming Arsenal means Alexandre Lacazette’s impressive start to life in the Premier League has been overlooked.

The Frenchman continued his scoring form with both of his country’s goals in a 2-2 draw with Germany this week, and is expected to lead the line for Arsene Wenger in Saturday’s north London derby.

It will be his first taste of the fixture, but Lacazette boasts solid scoring records from derby days with Lyon, including a return of five goals in 12 meetings with both Saint-Etienne and Lille – also adding two assists against the latter.

Joe Gomez

After nailing down a place in Liverpool’s XI, Joe Gomez put forth a convincing case for place in England’s over the break.

Producing two mature performances in a back three, he was key to Gareth Southgate’s side keeping two clean sheets against two of the world’s best sides – Germany and Brazil.

This weekend Liverpool welcome Southampton, among the lowest scorers in the division, making a clean sheet bonus for Gomez a likely reward.
And with him having registered a pass or tackle bonus in each of his last four outings, the youngster is worth considering.

Mat Ryan

Mat Ryan wasn’t kept particularly busy over the international period, having to make only a couple of saves in Australia’s World Cup play-off tie with Honduras, but he did what was asked of him to help ensure his nation’s qualification.

After a poor start to the season, the Aussie is climbing up the Sky Sports Fantasy Football rankings, steadily collecting the points with newly-promoted – and comfortably settling – Brighton.

Ryan has registered three clean sheets and three save bonuses in his last six outings for the Seagulls, a run he should certainly continue at home to a fairly unimpressive Stoke side on Monday night.
