Sky Sports Fantasy Football – Captain Confusion part 2 – UPDATED FOR GW4 INFO

Sky Sports FF

Hi I got a reply from Sky Sports Fantasy Football about the captain position.

Its rather long winded and not that clearly put but it seems to back up what I said in my article last week still stands.  That is:

You can have 2 captains in 1 gameweek but only if you keep the captain from the previous gameweek as your first captain in the new gameweek

You can also transfer an existing captain to create an additional captain

Today will be a good example!

Soldado is my captain from last week.  If I transfer him out for Dzeko or Negredo once the City line up is out,  I haven’t used a transfer but will have them as captain.  I can then on Sunday morning flip it to Walcott who will keep the captain for the Saturday fixture in the next gameweek away to Sunderland if I wanted to and then flip it on the Monday to Lucas Leiva.  I’ll be leaving my team to the last minute to wait for the City lineup.

An interesting point is that does gameweek 4 in Sky Sports Fantasy Football, which has no fixtures, count as a gameweek you can make a captain change in?  If it does that would allow me to switch it to RVP for the juicy home game against Crystal Palace in the gameweek.  Ill ask Sky Sports  Fantasy Football

UPDATED: Sky Sports fantasy football got back to me about GW4.  Very impressed with the quick (and polite)response.  the answer in essence is despite having no fixtures a captain change in GW4 does count allowing us all to line up RVP for the Saturday game against Crystal palace in Sky Sports fantasy football GW5.  here’s the Q and A for info:

My question: Hi does gameweek 4, which has no fixtures, count as a week you can make a captain change? This will allow me to get RVP in place for the palace home game without using a captain change in gameweek 5. A quick answer would be appreciated as it will affect my Sunday transfer decision this game week. Thanks

Sky Sports fantasy footballs reply:
Thank you for your recent correspondence.

You can make 1 captaincy change in each game week, this includes game week 4.

Kind regards

Before that though if you have any comments on my conclusion please leave it in the comments section.  It would be good to get this right:

Here’s their reply to my original question:

You can only make one captaincy change in a game week, the game week runs from Saturday at 00.01am until the following Friday. You need to make sure that the captain you select is definitely correct as you will you not be able to make any further captaincy changes, you only have 1 chance to select your captain in each game week I’m afraid.

Captain changes must be made before the earliest Premier League kick off that day to be effective to score double points for your selected captain in the Premier League games played on that day. Any captain changes made after the earliest kick off will carry over and start scoring from the next match day of the game week.

In last season’s Sky game you had to make the captaincy change before the first Premier League match of the game week was scheduled to kick off, usually 12:45pm or 3pm on a Saturday, and this would be your registered captain for the whole of the resp! ective game week. This season you do not have to make the captaincy change before the first Premier League match of the game week, you could make it before the earliest scheduled Premier League match on a Sunday and score double points for your captain in the games played that day. If there was a game played on a Monday, you could wait and make the captaincy change before the first Premier League match scheduled that day and score double points for your selected captain in Monday’s match.

If your captain was already playing on Saturday, you could then change the captaincy using a captaincy change before the earliest scheduled kick off on Sunday and also score double points for your captain on the Sunday. This would use up your one available captaincy change for that respective game week and any further captaincy changes you try to make in that game week will only become effective from the start of the following game week.

However, if you use a transfer t! o remove your captain, the incoming player will replace him as! captain and this will not use up the one captaincy change that is allowed for the game week. For example, if you had your existing captain already playing on a Saturday, he would score double points on that day. You could then transfer him out for a game on Sunday, before the earliest Premier League game played on the Sunday, and the incoming player taking over as captain would score double points. You could then use your weekly captaincy change to change the captain for a game on Monday and score double points again for 3 seperate players.

Details of the rules regarding captaincy changes and further examples of how they work can be found at the bottom of the How To Play page at http://fantasyfootball.skysports.com/help:

‘Captain Changes

New for this season – you can now make a captain change within the Game week. Just like transfers, you can make this alteration for any match day, thus giving you the opportunity to score double points from two ! of your players over the duration of the Game week.

A Game week starts on Saturday at 00.01am and runs till the following Friday.

Captain changes must be made before the earliest kick off that day, e.g.: prior to the first kick-off on the Saturday. Captain changes made after the earliest kick off will carry over and start scoring from the next match day of the Game week.

Captains will still score double – be it positive or negative.

With two lots of double points on offer, changing your captain can have obvious benefits. Choosing when and how to change it is up to you: here’s a couple of scenarios…

You have Robin Van Persie in place as captain prior to Saturday’s matches. He scores you double points on that day and, that evening you elect to change your captain to Eden Hazard – Hazard plays on Sunday and can therefore also earn you double points in the Game week. However, having made a change, you no longer have the option to cha! nge your captain for any match taking place on Monday night or later in! the Game week.

You have Robin Van Persie in place as captain for Saturday’s matches. He scores you points on that day and, rather than elect to change your captain to a player in action on Sunday, you switch your captaincy to Santi Cazorla. He plays on Monday night, allowing you to score double points from his performance in addition to Van Persie’s double tally from Saturday.’

Good luck with your Sky Sports Fantasy Football captain choice this week
