Sky Sports Fantasy Football returns to fantasy football geek

Sky Sports FF

At long last here’s the first introduction to Sky Sports Fantasy Football.  We take a quick run through the rules and then come up with a very initial draft team

Sky Sports Fantasy Football returns to fantasy football geek

The sky sports fantasy football site design is new by the way and it’s pretty hard work to say the least so be patient.

The rules

I’m going to do this in a very basic way as I imagine most of you would have played last season.

The scoring has been changed slightly.  There’s the normal goal and assist plus clean sheet rules and man of the match bonus.  The pass and tackle bonus seems to have changed slightly as well as the GK bonus.  GKs should become more valuable but the extra points for pass and tackle are at a pretty high threshold.

The most interesting change is with the captain where it appears you can make changes before each day and get double points.  Therefore planning for your captain choice each day that there is a game is hugely important

The FFGeek draft team

Here’s the team.  I’ve tried to do a reasonable blend of players in different positions for the moment.

The team isn’t that different than the players I’ve been looking at in other formats notably FPL.  However I’ve tried to plan the days so there is always going to be a captain available.

I’ve gone for a mixture of premium and cheap defence.  Fabgreas is the only player with an eye on the pass and tackle bonus.  I did consider Arsenals Xhaka and Leicesters Mendy who could be other new players to benefit but chose just to have 1 player.  The rest are players that I’ve got on their goal and assist potential.  Things will undoubtedly change over the week

Here’s the captain plan which gets me to Monday of GW4.

GW1:  Aguero, Ibrahimovic, Fabregas

GW2:  Ibrahimovic, Aguero, Feghouli

GW3:  Ibrahimovic, Aguero

GW4:  Aguero, Fabregas, then Sunderland v Everton

Fantasy Football Geek League

Here’s the league details.  For some reason last years didn’t carry over but given the functionality of the Sky site I’m not surprised

League Name: FantasyFootballGeek
