Sun Dream Team – 13 players to think about if you’re chasing in your mini league

Sun Dream Team

Sun Dream Team with it’s relatively new price movements is great if you got on the Kane, Otamendi’s and Sterling’s early.  Not so great if you didn’t.  Here’s 13 players I’ve picked out which I think are good value and could help you in your chase or at least provide funds elsewhere

Sun Dream Team – 13 players to think about if you’re chasing in your mini league

I’ve looked for players who to me seem undervalued and therefore have more points potential than they are currently priced at.  Some are for your team immediately others are for your watchlist for  a few gameweeks on.

Remember there are generally reasons why these players are so cheap so they come with risk but if you’re chasing and unable to get in the most expensive players then you will need to take some risks.

The stats are fairly simple.  I’ve taken the price and PPG from the Sun Dream Team site.  I’ve then found the total minutes played in all competitions from the excellent transfermarkt site and used that to calculate points per 90 minutes played.  That at least allows you to assist potential when on the pitch

Jesus £3.8m PPG 3.3 and PP90 4.9 Str

Still a few weeks to go before being back from injury but when you consider his Man City striker mate Aguero is twice the price and Kane 3 times the price he’s potentially a steal.  Will share gametime with Aguero which is the principle drawback as he seems now the junior partner.  However,  with City in every competition and looking to win them all there are still a number of games to play.

Mkhitaryan £2.6m PPG 2.6 and PP90 3.8 Mid

Very cheap for an Arsenal attacking midfielder when you consider Ozil is well over twice the price at £5.5m.  Does have fitness challenges after being benched for so much of this season and needs to find the Bundesliga player of the season that he came to England with.  A potential link up with again with Dortmund’s Aubameyang could also help reignite that.  No game this weekend as out of the FA Cup but a good game first up at Swansea

Lacazette £3.7m PPG 3.2 and PP90 4.0 Str

The 70 minute Arsenal man is a magnet for the subs board and does have even more gametime risk with the above mentioned Aubameyang in negotiations with Arsenal.  However like Jesus he’s an excellent price when you consider his full back team mate Kolasinac is £4.7m

As I said for Mkhitaryan no FA Cup fixture this week but does have Swansea midweek away.

Morata £4.3m PPG 3.5 and PP90 4.6 Str

The Chelsea striker missed out on the EFL semi through a bad back as his body seems to be slowly falling apart with the rigours of the EPL after being a bit part player for Juve and Real recently.  Still his record and stats are good and Chelsea are still in 3 competitions.  Even with Dzeko potentially joining he has good gametime prospects if he can get fit.  A doubt for the FA Cup match v Newcastle.

Van Dijk £3.2m PPG 2.0 and PP90 2.8 Def

Great value in the Liverpool defence when you consider Lovren is £5.3m and Moreno £4.8m.  The Liverpool defence is also unfairly maligned in my view.  His first 2 performances for Liverpool have also drawn big 7+ ratings and 11 points as he ticks all the defensive boxes.

Kyle Walker £3.5m PPG 3.5 and PP90 4.0 Def

The Man City RB is great value when you consider that Otamendi is £6.6m and even Mangala is £4.1m.  Unquestionably first choice and will play most games rest related rotation excepted.  The issue is that he struggles with the bonus system only getting 7+ ratings in 14/32 games (43%).  City will get clean sheets and his gametime is assured.

Christensen £3.7m PPG 3.0 and PP90 3.7 Def

The cheapest of all the Chelsea defenders with regulars Alonso at £6.5m and Azpilicueta £5.7m.  Has missed recent matches through illness and injury.  However playing in the EFL semi finla does seem to show that he’s first choice.  The issues he has is competition for the CB position meaning he will be rotated and his struggles with the bonus points system with only 9 7+ ratings from 27 games (33%)

Sane £5.3m PPG 4.7 and PP90 5.9 Mid

I’m a little surprised at the Man City LW’s price.  He’s cheaper than all the Man City attacking mids and has great stats and does ok with the bonus system with 19/32 games getting 7+ bonus points.  The only issue is rotation and he seems more rotatable than some of the other players.  That could increase when Jesus is back.

Smalling £4.5m PPG 4.2 and PP90 4.5 Def

Looks to be the established Man Utd CB partner to Phil Jones except for £4.5m instead of £6m.  Does have rotation risk though with Lindelof and Rojo in the background and Bailly and Blind injured but possibly a few weeks away.  Doesn’t do too bad for 7+ ratings at 46% but dwarfed by Jones at 68%

Wilshere £3.5m PPG 2.7 and PP90 3.4 Mid

Cheaper than his Arsenal midfield counterparts of Ramsey at £4.8m and Ozil at £5.5m but has started to justify a regular place and although he won’t get the goals and assist of the other 2 he is liked by the bonus system with 15/23 (65%) 7+ bonus rating.

Bernardo Silva £3.2m PPG 1.8 and PP90 3.7 Mid

The Sun Dream Team covering all competitions means even fringe players get enough games to make an impression on your team if they’re at the right price.  He won’t play anything like every game but the number of competitions will mean gametime is guaranteed.  Hard to judge on the bonus system when on the pitch has scored a goal or assist at an impressive 123 minutes.

Martial £4.5m PPG 4.0 and PP90 6.8 Str

Unfortunately takes up one of the striking positions but when on the pitch he’s performed.  Cheaper than Lukaku at £5.8m and Sanchez at £6.7m.  Starting to earn the trust of Mourinho although Sanchez could be a risk as an acquisition.  If he starts against Yeovil tonight in the FA Cup then it could be a good place to introduce him

Soares£0.9m PPG 0.8 and PP90 0.8 Def

Now you’re probably wondering why I’m highlighting a player who doesn’t score a point per game.  Well it’s mainly due to a good run of fixtures and a value that could help you invest elsewhere.  There upcoming fixtures are Watford, Brighton, WBA, Liverpool, Burnley,Stoke, Newcastle, Swansea and West Ham.
