Sun Dream Team 2014/15 premier league is now open!

Rule review – Summary

Here is a summary of the main rules using fantasy premier league as a frame of reference.  I’ll cut and paste the significant full rules at the bottom of this post.

All domestic and European cups are covered for premier league teams plus the premier league itself  – Premier League, FA Cup, League cup, Champions League, Europa League

Teams are fixed with 4 transfers windows plus 2 bonus transfers added this season

4 transfer windows spread during the year with 3 transfers in each window.  2 emergency transfers.  1 in September and 1 in January

No captain or vice captain

No Wildcard

No substitutes

Player values don’t change

Only 2 formations 4-4-2 and 4-3-3

No limits of players from anyone team

Goal scored points of 5 for each position, clean sheets for defenders and some for mids.  7+ rating points and Star Man points.  (full details in full rulls).  No assist points

Goals conceded points 2 goals – 1 point and -1 point for every goal conceded over 2

New rules

There’s nothing I can see talking about new rules but from what I can see it appears to be the emergency transfers and the restricted formtions.  There is now a point deduction for penalty misses

15 minute team

Here’s my first go at a team.  With Hull, Everton and Spurs in the Europa League and Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in the Champions league these teams have dominated my team due to the additional games they will play.  There is an early transfer window to add them but with only 3 transfers I want to leave these for injurries or any surprise form players.  There’s a little narrative on my selection process below the team:

sunepl2014.15first

I’ve based my choices in the main on the teams in the European competition.  I’ve started with Alan McGregor as GK’s really arent worth spending a load of money on.

In defence I’ve gone for the cheaper of the European represented teams.  My gamble is John Stones who may or may not beat Distin to the Jagielka partner spot.  He will still have to play a load of games and is cheap.  When I come back I may try and work out how to get Baines in as he seems a gamble worth taking with the Europa League.  Martinez will definitely try and win it in my mind.

In midfield I’ve taken a big gamble on Erik Lamela of Spurs as he has started preseason well and is a class player historically at a reasonable price.  I’ve gone for Silva for Man City representation although a World Cup rested Nasri is also quite appealing.  A rested Ramsey seems the best Arsenal choice.

In the strikers Ive gone for Rooney as Man Utd have such good fixtures to start.  I may change to Lukaku once the Europa League starts.  Sturridge is an obvious one and Costa to me is less rotatable than Hazard for Chelsea.  I would normally  go for Aguero but are leaving it until fitness is established.

Hope that gives you something to think about for choosing your team.
