Sun Dream Team

suntw3logo

One of the factors to take into account in Sun Dream Team transfer window 3 is future fixtures. We’ll look at on 2 levels. Which teams will have extra fixtures and will play European cup and domestic up competitions.   Secondly which teams have the easiest premier league games to transfer window 4 which opens on March 24 and closes on April 4.     This article will where we’ll focus to the end of transfer window 4 ie April 4.  Remember you have 3 transfers and can change your transfers up 7 February if you change your mind.  You may also have an emergency transfer which goes to the end of the season.

We’ll go though the different competitions to show you who’s involved and their fixtures.

Which competitions involve which teams?

Up to transfer window 4 there are the following competitions ongoing.  There will be a seperate section on each below:

1. The premier league

2. The Europa League ( Everton, Tottenham, Liverpool)

3. The Champions League (Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal).

4. The Capital One Cup. (Chelsea, Spurs,)

5.  The FA Cup Arsenal, Man Utd, Sunderland, Stoke, West Ham, Aston Villa, WBA, C Palace, Leicester, (Liverpool subject to a replay at Bolton tonight)

We’ll look at the competitions and teams in turn and how they affect the time up to transfer window 4

The premier league

Up to the closing of transfer window 4 includes only a  further 7 premier league game weeks.

Here’s the fixture ease schedule I use for fantasy premier league which ranks the teams in terms of fixtures “easiness” over the next 7 premier league fixtures. The team ranked 1 has the easiest fixtures 20 has the most difficult.   It’s from an attacking point of view but is a reasonable proxy for defence as well.  I’ve also noted in the schedule which teams are also in the domestic and European Cups.  It’s important to note that this assumes Chelsea’s postponed game against Leicester is played before the  transfer window 4 fixtures.  This should be the case but not guaranteed.

The Europa League

There are 2 knockout rounds before the transfer window 4 phase.  Each knockout round is home and away so the 3 teams involved have potentially 4 extra games.  Very significant in the context of a round with only 7 premier league games.  Also at this stage of the season rotation becomes less of an issue as teams are in the competition to win and there are little in the way of second chances.  Here’s the first knockout games.

Spurs game: Fiorentina

Everton game:  Young Boys

Liverpool game:  Besiktas

You would think all teams have a reasonable chance of progressing

The Champions League

Unlike the Europa League there is only 1 two legged knockout round within this phase of Sun Dream Team and the fixtures are far more challenging than the Europa

Here’s the fixtures:

Arsenal:  Monaco

Man City:  Barcelona

Chelsea:  PSG

Arsenal definitely have the easiest fixture, then Chelsea with Man City the most difficult.

The Capital One Cup

Nice and easy this.  There is only the final between Spurs and Chelsea which is played on the 1st March within this phase of Sun Dream Team.  Both will play full lineups

The FA Cup

Here’s the FA Cup 5th round which I taken from the BBC website.  For some reason they haven’t updated the Sunderland, Man Utd and Preston victories from last night.  The 6th round is also within this phase of the Sun Dream Team prior to transfer window 4

Summary and the best teams:

A very short phase with only 7 premier league games so teams with good premier league fixtures as well as extra fixtures through the other competitions look very attractive

So here’s some teams to focus on:

Arsenal

Good premier league fixtures plus still in the FA Cup and a good champions league draw.  Big attacking squad with rotation possibilities

Man City

Good premier league fixtures are the attraction but hard UCL game and no domestic cups dilute this.

 Spurs

Mixed fixtures but anyone in the Europa League with potentially 4 extra games has to be attractive.

Liverpool

Tricky premier league fixtures but the only team in the Europa League and the FA Cup.

Southampton

No additional fixtures but defence looking strong again.  Remember Bertrand though will be suspended for 3 games.

That’s it.  I’ll now focus on player recommendations
