Here’s our Sun Dream Team 2015/16 tips article where we outline a first draft team. Before that we give you the low down on the European and domestic cups and the premier league teams involved
Sun Dream Team 2015/16 tips – a first draft team
The European and domestic cup competitions
The Champions League
Man Utd have 2 play off games on the 18/19th and 25/26th August before transfer window 1 giving them 2 extra games
Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal enter the Group stages starting the 16th September so after the first transfer window and involve 6 games after the 1st transfer window before the end of the year.
The Europa League
West Ham a 2nd leg against Birkikara to then qualify for a play off game for particpation in the Group stages. Assuming they get past Birkikara the playoff game is against Inverness or FC Astro of Roumania.
Southampton go straight to the qualifying games for the play off games.
They qualifying games dont count for Sun Dream Team but are before the start of the season (2nd leg 6 August) so if they are knocked out we will know.
The Playoff games are on the 20th and 27th of August and do count towards Sun Dream Team. Therefore both Southampton and West Ham have 2 extra games before transfer window 1 providing they get through the qualfying games.
Tottenham and Liverpool both go into the Group stages which start on the 16th of September and involve 6 games before the end of the year
The Capital One Cup
Round 2 involves all premier league teams apart from those in European cup competitions and is on the 24th August.
Round 3 involves the remaining premier league teams and the European cup teams and is on the 21st September after the first transfer window.
Hard to see what benefit that is as the premier league teams often play 2nd string teams.
The first draft team
Given the above here’s my first draft team which emphasises the European competition teams:
So at the moment my favoured attacking players from the 8 European Teams are:
Chelsea – Hazard and Costa
Man City – Aguero (when fit after Copa America) and Silva
Arsenal – Sanchez (when fit after Copa America) Walcott, Ramsey and Giroud
Man Utd – Rooney and Depay
Liverpool – Benteke (assuming it happens) and Sturridge (injured) Firmino
Spurs – Kane and Eriksen
Southampton – Pelle and Mane
West Ham – Sakho and Payet
So to give an emphasis on the teams with extra games I’ve gone strong on Man Utd, Southampton and West Ham with a core of other players in the team above.
At the moment my 3 transfers after that for TW1 are:
Rooney to Aguero (the team above has £1.0m in the bank giving enough for Aguero automatically)
Sakho to Benteke
Silva to Walcott/Ramsey
