The Premier League

With 12 fixtures the premier league becomes very important in this phase.  The good news is that the teams in Eurpean competition of Spurs, Arsenal and Man Utd have good fixtures.  Man City’s are harder but they have the Cap 1 cup to make up for it. Liverpool are the main negative with tricky fixtures.  Those holding Southampton assets will be disappointed.

The Europa League

The Europa League has enticing fixture but suffers from rotation.  Both Liverpool and Spurs seem to be taking the competition seriously with pretty strong teams being put out which is a good sign.  It’s also likely that neither will secure first place with enough daylight for a reserve team to go out either.

Here’s the 2 games for each team:

Liverpool:  Bordeaux (H), Sion (Switzerland) (A)

Tottenham:  Qarabağ (Azerbaijan) (A), Monaco (H)

So tough games apart from Qarabag which could see a weakened team out especially when you factor in the travelling

The Champions League

The Champions League is so important to the 4 teams that it generally means limited rotation and although the opposition is more difficult than the Europa League that in itself also limits rotation.  Here’s the fixtures

Man City:  Juventus (A), Mönchengladbach (H)

Man Utd:   PSV (H),  Wolfsburg (A)

Arsenal:  Zagreb (H), Olympiacos (A)

Chelsea:  Tel-Aviv (A), Porto (H)

So everyone needs to win to either qualify or finish first in the Group which is a good sign.  The fixtures for all could be worse though with only Man City away to Juventus looking a very tricky fixture.

The Capital One Cup

At this stage everyone will fancy their chances of winning it and it’s hard to imagine any of the teams, Man City apart, rotating to any serious degree.   That rotation risk for Man City should lessen assuming they get through to the semi which seems likely.  Apart from the Southampton v Liverpool game you would back the 3 other premier league sides to get through
