Firstly there’s the table of defenders, plus a key below to help you make your transfer decisions. What I have done though is only give 1 player for each team. However in the narrative I’ve also given other feasible options from the team. I’ve also added on a new column showing my defensive ranking over the season for the team out of the 20 in the league. Key
1. Rank – My assessement of the rank although the stats allow you to make your own assessment
2. Name – Name
3 Value – Sun Dream Team value
4. PPG – Points per game
5. 7+ % – the % of games that the player has been awarded a 7 or more rating.
6. Starman % – the % of games played that the player has been awarded the starman rating
7. CS – Clean sheets the player has received as a % of games played. The higher the better
8. FFG Def Rank – this is how I’ve ranked the team’s defence rather than the individuals defence.
9. Fixt ease – The easiness of the premier league fixtures from a defensive perspective. 1 is the easiest, 20 is the hardest.
Blind
The Sun Dream Team really seem to have a blind spot if you pardon for pun for Daley. Rojo’s and Smallings stats are also worthy of consideration
Bellerin
The Arsenal RB’s price is just too good to be true. Although no extra competitions very good fixtures to the end of the season within a good defence. Koscielny is worthy of consideration but much dearer and more injury prone
Clyne
I’m more of a believer than most in the Liverpool defence mainly as they have alot of very good defensive underlying stats which just have to turn into clean sheets eventually. It’s just as well as who knows how they will lineup from week to week. Clyne seems the most reliable apart from GK Mignolet
Fuchs
If you think that Sun Dream Team love Blind then Fuchs totally puts that in the shade. The stats are incredible. The fixtures, lack of extra competitions and pressure are the negatives. Huth is also a viable option
Alderweireld
Surprisingly ordinary stats for such a quality player. A good defence though but facing tricky fixtures to the end of the season. Wallker probably gets more love from Sun Dream Team and although he should be the number 1, rotation with Trippier isn’t out of the question.
Jagielka
Everton are about extra fixtures rather than any defensive strength and they have been patchy to say the least. Funes Mori has better stats and is a good attacking option. It’s just if Funes Mori can keep Stones out of the side or if he can’t if Martinez plays 3 at the back.
Van Dijk
Good stats but defensive strength has faded recently.
Cathcart
The Watford defence apart from Leicester has probably been the best cheap option. Good fixtures and at least 1 extra game in the FA Cup but the downside is nothing to play for in the league
Cresswell
A good attacking option in a fairly inconsistent defence is the assessment here
Otamendi
Dear me, if Fuchs and Blind have Sun Dream Team devotion then Otamendi is the unwanted love child of Sun Dream Team. Terrible stats. One thing is for sure that things won’t get better with Kompany injured. The only bright spot is that they have to, unless the unthinkable of Man City missing out on the top 4 is going to happen. There are no other options as all are rotatable
