Sun Dream Team – “ones to watch” – midfielders

Player Rankings, Sun Dream Team

Here’s my view of the best midfielders in Sun Dream Team

As you’ll know if youre reading this Sun Dream Team covers the the domestic and European Cups as well as the premier league.  With this in mind and the fact that you only have 12 transfers for the whole season I’ve tried to concentrate on teams with European fixtures in order to generate maximum matches.

Remember Swansea and Spurs are in the Europa league and Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea are in the Champions league.

The midfield players who Sun Dream Team likes are players that are heavily involved in the game and run the games for their team.  Mata of last year is a great example

Mata (£7.0m)

  • last years stats:  Points Per Game 6.1   Starman awards  15.  % of 7 ratings or more  81%

One of the Sun Dream team darlings who just needed to turn up last year to get the points.  Great stats from last year.  Only risk is any increased rotation and the theory that he doesnt suit Mourinho’s style

Hazard (£6.5m)

  • last years stats:  Points Per Game 4.9.    Starman awards  8.  % of 7 ratings or more  67%

Doesn’t have the stats of Mata from last year but is probably suited to Mourinho’s more direct counter attacking style.

Walcott (£5.5m)

  • last years stats:  Points Per Game 7.4.    Starman awards  4.  % of 7 ratings or more  77%

Great returns from last year and with a good fixture list and an advanced position sorted he’s a must have for me

Silva (£5.5m)

  • last years stats:  Points Per Game 3.7.    Starman awards  4.  % of 7 ratings or more  51%

You have to look past the stats from last year and look to a more attacking approach from City which hopefully will see an upturn from Silva.  Only nailed on attacking midfielder at City and they have great fixtures to start which compels Sun DReam team managers to get some City coverage.

Coutinho (£4.0m)

  • last years stats:  Points Per Game 5.5.    Starman awards  2.  % of 7 ratings or more  75%

What an impression Coutinho made.  The sort of all highly involved midfielder like Mata that Sun Dream Team hooked on to.  Essential for me with Liverpool having good fixtures to start with.

Ben Arfa (£3.5m)

  • last years stats:  Points Per Game 3.6.    Starman awards  2.  % of 7 ratings or more  58%

Doesn’t have the additional games but Newcastle have good fixtures to start with once the City game has gone.  Stylish midfilder that catches the eye that should make an impression on the Sun Dream team rating people

Snodgrass (£3.0m)

  • last years stats:  Points Per Game 4.1    Starman awards  6  % of 7 ratings or more  66%

Great stats from last year and really liked by Sun Dream Team.  Should be even better as the club have now signed some strikers that should be able to score.  Highly involved midfielder who dominates set pieces.  Norwich have good fixtures to begin the season

Dyer (£3.0m)

  • last years stats:  Points Per Game  3.5    Starman awards  3.  % of 7 ratings or more  48%

Will be rotated but there will be enough games to go around with the Europa League.  Good returns even though the Sun Dream Team  ratings people didnt think that much of him.  After a lot of thought he seems to be the best Swansea midfield bet

Zaha (£1.5m)

No stats from last year but really good value and with there being lots of games to compete in, even after rotation, with the Champions league and the domestic cups it could be a worthwhile gamble

Paulino (£3.5m) and Fernadinho (£4.0m)

2 all action  box to box Brazilian midfielders who could catch the eye of the Sun Dream Team ratings people.  Both also have an eye for goal and are reasonable value.

By the way I’m not picking…

Cazorla – just think Walcott is the better pick

Lamps – Sun Dream team love him but will he get the gametime?

Fellaini – will be a defensive mid this year

Wilshere – a bit too deep and a bit too expensive plus Walcott.

Kagawa – spooked by the Community Shield

Mirallas – so nearly did have him in the list.  Just has alot of cover so will he play the games as a little injury prone

Gerrard – plays a bit deep and will be rested alot.  No Europe and Coutinho better bet

Thats it on to forwards now
