Here’s my Sun Dream Team tips article where I have a 2nd go at a draft team. The competing attractions of European qualifiers, premier league fixtures, long term fixtures and value growth has made planning very difficult. I’ve put a team up and made quick notes on the reasoning behinds each player

Firstly here’s the team:
Foster
Just a long term GK pick in a sound defensive team. No European fixtures but most of those teams will rotate that GK anyway. Probably little value growth potential but not worth wasting lots of funds on a GK
Otamendi
Safe long term defensive pick in a team with Euro qualifiers in September, good fixtures to start with too. Possible value growth if he can score
Baines
A value growth pick. Not bad first fixtures apart from the annoying fixture to start with against Spurs. Has alot of attacking potential especially if he can get a share of set pieces. Koeman should improve the defence as quite frankly it was a joke last year. All gives some value growth potential
Shaw
A long term pick but with value growth potential as he’s at a ridiculous price. Wont play in the Europa League I imagine but it could very easy be a full B team anyway
Terry
Another value pick with good fixtures to start and goal scoring potential. Not a long term pick with Zouma coming back and his age and no European football
Tadic
Potentially only a 1 game pick home to Watford in GW1 as I’ve left space in the bank for Payet if he’s named in the Europa League team for that week
Eriksen
A long term pick. Set pieces, champions league football and can score and assist
Mahrez
Could be another GW1 pick only if De Bruyne is fit for the game against Steaua in midweek. Great opening fixture at home to Hull
Aguero
Only injury will have him out of my team all year long
Ibrahimovic
I’m a little unsure of this one but Man Utds early fixtures are good. If he fails he could be a value disaster. How much growth in value can there be at this price? Won’t play in the Europa League. Hard to know how he will do?
Batshuayi
Purely a value play. I’m getting the feeling he will start. Chelsea’s early fixtures are good and £3.5m for a Chelsea striker is very cheap
Thats it. I’ll start working on fixtures in more detail plus player lists next. Hope in the meantime this gives you some food for thought
