Here’s the FFGeek league winner (1,000th overall) in 2014/15 Simon Rowley’s final team in Sun Dream Team.  There’s also some interesting discussion on the dilemmas and choices in making it

So its down to less than 24 hours before kick off , and time to stop doing your 700th draft team and finally leave it alone.

Here’s the team:

The only change I’ve made from my last draft team, is Wimmer out (Vertonghen confirmed fit for the Everton match) and Dawson in, purely down to WBA fixtures at the start of the season. I would have ideally preferred to put in either Coleman or Fonte, but both currently doubtful for the weekend.

I could have looked at a £3.5M defender instead, as I have £0.5M in the bank, but want to save that, in order to get Payet in, possibly on Monday night.

Stones going to Man City has worked out as I hoped, and Pep has confirmed he’s available for selection. Shaw looks like a guaranteed starter, going off preseason. Terry should play, I would think, especially after seeing yesterday that John Obi Mikel has put Terry in his dream team side (tenuous link I know, but surely a good clue, even if Mikel has also included himself in his team), and Chelsea aren’t blessed with a multitude of central defenders.

My midfield hasn’t changed, although I have contemplated changing it. Eriksen was always staying in, KDB maybe doubtful for Saturday, but should play the champions league play off, so is definitely staying in. Mikhitaryan has been the biggest issue, especially after not starting the community shield, but I’ve stuck with him for the time being, but could possibly change him to Payet on Monday, or before the Europa league play off, depending if he starts.

Aguero was never going anywhere, and I’m keeping faith, for the time being, with Ibrahimovic, but will see how he does during the first few weeks, then I could possibly swap him for either Kane or Sanchez. Firmino has kept his place, especially with Sturridge possibly out injured (shock!), but could be changed later for maybe a West Ham or Southampton forward when the Europa league starts.

I’ve seen a lot of comments from people saying they are thinking of making 3 changes on Monday night, but at the moment I’m not 100% convinced that that’s the way to go. This season could well be decided by who uses their transfers the best. Personally, I’m not really a fan of putting someone in just for one match, although I may do that as I’ve said with Mikhitaryan, so to use all 3 on Monday seems a bit extreme to me. Anything could happen with injuries before the end of August, and if you’ve already made 3 transfers, you could be left playing with 10, 9 or even 8 players till September, then have to make earlier transfers again to compensate, and will then always be on the back foot, making reactive transfers, rather than proactive ones.

At the minute, its hard to say which is the best way to go, but I’ll definitely be playing a bit conservative to start with, with my transfers, until the season has settled down a bit, and the real life transfer window finally shuts.

Also, with the new price changes, quick transfers could negate potential price rises of some players, so that is something else I want to take a look at, before making wholesale transfers, to see how quick, how often, and how much prices change at the start of the season.

I will put all transfers I make, and any late changes on Twitter, my username is @upthevale1, if you want to follow me. Don’t forget to join the FFG league, if you haven’t already, something like 260 teams currently in it, but the head to head league is now full, with all 40 places taken. Good luck to everyone, and hope you all have a good season.
