Sun Dream Team tips – Last seasons FFGeek league winner Simon Rowley talks about his team

So transfer time is here again, and fortunately my team is definitely improved since the last window. My team after the last window was

DeGea
Smalling
Bellerin
Clyne
Kolarov
Silva
Coutinho
DeBruyne
Aguero
Kane
Benteke

I used my emergency transfer in December to put Lukaku in instead of Benteke.

Unfortunately I have no idea of my overall ranking, doesn’t show it on the site, but my points total (before the FA cup fixtures) is 1081, so if anyone with a similar total can tell me their ranking, I’d be grateful.

In the FFG league, I have moved from roughly 270th to 140th, so at least going in the right direction.

On to my transfers. DeBruyne definitely has to go with his injury, and I’m considering swapping him for Ozil. Coutinho’s injury has been a big let down for me, and although he could be back soon, I’m changing him for Firmino. The thinking behind this is the amount of fixtures Liverpool have got, and the fact that Klopp keeps playing him as basically a centre forward. His form is slowly on the up as well. The final transfer looks like being Kolarov out and Alderweireld in. Man city have looked poor defensively without Kompany, and with Clichy now fit, and Kolarov out injured, I think the change makes sense.

It is worth remembering at this time of year, that if you are behind in a league with dream team, you wont catch up by putting in the players the team above you have. You need differential players, so if you’re ever going to gamble on a player, now is the time. I’m personally hoping the likes of Silva and Lukaku (not particularly high ownership) can be these players, along with Firmino.

If you are behind in a league, one possible tactic you can take, and I’ve seen done successfully in my works league, is to go all out on 1 team. For instance, most teams will already have a Man City defender, and possibly a midfielder, and Aguero. As Man City could possibly have the most matches remaining in the season, it could be worth loading up on their players. So possibly Hart, Otamendi, Toure, Sterling, Silva could all be put in as well. This is a risky strategy, but as I’ve said, one I’ve seen used in the past.

Obviously with the FA cup matches, and a round of Premier league matches, before the transfer window shuts, none of my transfers are set in stone, and I will review them before next weekend.
