Here’s my view of the best strikers in Sun Dream Team transfer window 1. I’ve given a number of stats to help you make your choice for your team as well.

Sun Dream Team transfer window 1 – Striker options

As I’ve said before the teams in the European competitions will have 4 extra games over the 8 games in the premier league. Given that 16 of 20 of the top point scoring players overall last season were in the European competitions it’s no surprise that virtually all of the players below are in the European competitions as we start the Group stages. It’s very different to the current points table but it’s worth remembering that were only 3 games in and Dwight Gayle will not be anything like the the top point scoring striker at the end of the season as he is now.

KEY:
1. Rank: My view of their rank given the various stats
2. Cost: Their cost in Sun Dream Team
3. PPG 13/14: The total points divided by the games played for 13/14. The higher the better. The Sun Dream Team supplies games including sub appearances which makes the information a bit distorted. I don’t have the information for some players and some weren’t in the premier league last season
4. PPG 14/15: As above except 14/15
5. Euro Comps: The European competetions the team is in. UCL is the Champions League and EL is the Europa League
6. The % of 7+ plus awards of their total games. I’ve supplied 13/14 and 14/15 when the information is available. I’ve put NA when they weren’t in the league last year and unkn if I dont have the info. This gives a general indication of Sun Dream Teams view of the player
7. The % of Starman awards. As for above I’ve given 13/14 when available or applicable. Again this gives a general view of the players starman potential
8. Fixture ease. This is the rank of how easy their fixtures are to the 2nd transfer window. If you remember the article then it groups teams by how many of the lower placed teams of last year are in the games to the first transfer window.

Costa

Despite the acquisition of Remy Costa is essential to Chelsea and could only be rotated for the domestic cups and Costa playing the premier League and the Champions League.  He’s got off to a flyer and really looks the part.  As I write this he’s going through an injury scare although Silva has come out in the press downplaying it

Sturridge

Great premier league fixtures and a good Champions league group makes Liverpool a big attraction.  Sturridge has played well this season not that you’d know from the ratings to date but he has enough good fixtures to make a case for loyalty.  Another player going through an injury scare and needs monitoring as won’t play the England game on Monday

Aguero

The only negative about Aguero is fitness.  Unfortuantely add to that is tricky fixtures not only in the premier league but also in the Champions league.  It’s really whether you think the guys class and his ability to score against anyone outweighs the fixtures and the injury risk.

Dzeko

The more natural partner for Aguero and with Negredo gone he should be more secure on gametime.  Is a bit of a streaky scorer but when on he really is.  As for Aguero it’s fixtures in the premier league and a tough Champions League Group which is the negative

Balotelli

Started off against Spurs as a pair with Sturridge and despite not getting the 7+ rating played pretty well I thought and was unlucky not to score.  Good Champions league group and premier league fixtures.  It just depends on whether you think the £1.0m saved by having him as opposed to Sturridge is worth it

Falcao

No European fixtures and no Cap One games.  This is all about whether you think the class of Falcao and the good fixtures that United face make up for the 4 games minimum that he wont face compared to the European competition strikers.  Personally I think the price being the same price as Costa is pretty steep

RVP

I could have written exactly the same thing for RVP that I wrote for Falcao except I would just add that RVP has pens.

Sanchez

A quality player who’s yet to feel the love from Sun Dream Team in terms of ratings and Star Man awards.  It’s all about his class rising above that.  Fixtures could be better but 2 good Champions Leagues fixtures against Anderlecht could reward him.

Lukaku

Looks set to miss the WBA game next due to a persistent toe injury .  That with the fact that Eto’o could take all the Europa League games makes him a risky choice

Welbeck

Looks like he’s the favourite to play as the lone striker as a replacement for Giroud.  Great value for an Arsenal striker and far cheaper than any striker playing in the Champions League.  It’s just whether you have the confidence that he will finish the chances that will undoubtedly come his way
