So hardly a fantastic start. The emergency transfer was Southampton’s Mane out and Man City’s Aguero in. This necessiated a change in formation from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3. My ranking is 248,750 out of what I guess if last year is anything to go by 750k teams. A pretty ordinary start and way off my 15k overall finish of last season.
In putting together the team I took a gamble on going for a mainly Southampton and Man United based team as they had 2 extra fixtures in what should have been easy Champions League and Europa League qualifiers. 7 of the 11 players in my team came from those 2 teams. Southampton also had good premier league fixtures. In actual fact those players apart from Mane and Stekelenburg didn’t let me down with all of them getting reasonable overall scores. What really let me down was the 4 other players apart from Bellerin. Ivanovic Hazard and Ozil were all total disasters.
The other major factor was the lack of City players. This was due to what was a tricky fixture list to start with as they faced the 2 teams with the most premier league clean sheets. However they started in supreme form.
The one thing about the Sun Dream Team is there are plenty of chances to improve your rank with the season being 50-60 games as it includes all the extra competitions. Were barely 10% in.
So where to next. I could easily see myself going for 3 City players. A defender and Silva is a must. Then there is one other spot. I would definitely like to get rid of Soares and just leave Stekelenburg as the GK from Southampton. Hazard and Ivanovic are tricky decisions. I can easily see Ivanovic going for the City defender. I’m not sure at the moment that I want 2 Man Utd attacking players given the lack of goals. I may just have to wear Ozil. What ever I will be keeping my policy of concentrating on the teams with extra games.
