Sun Dream Team transfer window 3 tips – the FFGeek teams transfers
Just a word of explanation regarding having 2 teams. I ended up with an additional team through having the Sun Dream Team membership so thought I would do one just for the sake of it. It shockingly slowly became more successful than my original team so it seemed a little churlish not to disclose it
So here are the draft teams and a little chat about each
Original team (Overall position 25,100)
So not a bad position. Everyone has performed in an attacking sense except for Hazard. Defensively probably only Kolarov was disappointing. Darmian despite not being LVG’s favouriye by any stretch gets into the team by default through injuries and has done ok.
So the transfers were:
Hazard out – Fabregas in
De Bruyne out – Firmino in
Stekelenburg out – De Gea in
So just talking through the transfers. De Bruyne was injured and Stekelenburg not selected due to Forster coming back so those transfers out were essential. Lukaku and Kolarov have been injury doubts but Kolarov seems fit and Lukaku seems to be short term and possibly only the Stoke game next. So no need to panic on those although putting Costa in was definitely thought about. That meant a choice between Darmian and Hazard for the 3rd transfer. Once Hazard didn’t start against Watford in the league that was it he was out. So the 2 transfers were Firmino as a bit of a risk considering how inconsistent he and the team are. Then I went for the Sun Dream Team love for Fabregas. Both have some rotation risk but seemed worth it as all the European competition teams do.
The biggest debate was on the GK. There were 2 debates. The first was the amount to spend. Do I go for a big spend which I don’t really think is worth it or do I go for a cheap GK. To me it seemed worth spending the cash as it’s a short window and money didn’t seem so tight. However I wanted to have enough money in the bank to replace my cheapest midfielder and striker with someone suitable if I needed to use my emergency transfer. Those minimum replacements were Firmono to Eriksen which requires £0.5m in the bank. Although Alli is a cheaper option. Striker needs a minimum of £0.5m in the bank for Giroud who’s not ideal but a solution. A short transfer window will limit the damage too. The 3 GKs in the frame were Courtois (£5.5m), Cech (£4.5m) and De Gea (£5.0m). I had to rule out Courtois as that would leave no money in the bank. That meant Cech vs De Gea. De Gea would mean 3 Man Utd players in defence which is hardly ideal but De Gea I’m gambling will play the Europa League as LVG will definitely want to win it. Plus Arsenal have a difficult UCL game and Ospina will play in the FA Cup. So De Gea it was.
Additional team (overall position 2696)
So everything that could go right has for this team A few weeks ago I would have dumped Rooney and Eriksen but now they are 2 of the form players. It just shows you how much luck is involved in this game and how much 50/50 choices can turn your season as my picks for this team took no time at all.
I couldn’t come up with 3 transfers so it’s:
De Bruyne out to Firmino in
Gomes out to De Gea
Unfortunately having done so well then thinking about the transfers you just start 2nd guessing yourself. Essentially the decision was one of 2. Take the less risky move of De Bruyne out and Fabregas in. That would involve probably leaving Gomes in. Or Firmino and then De Gea in. A more risky midfield transfer but more potential at GK
At the moment I will be thinking about it. I have no other transfer to use. Everyone has performed so well I just can’t change them.
I’ve got nothing in the bank but my midfield emergency transfers would be Alli in midfield and Giroud in the forwards.
