Sun Dream Team transfer window 4 – last seasons FFGeek league winner Simon Rowley talks about his plans

Transfer time again, and virtually the final chance to seriously improve rankings. My team after the last window is

GK:   DeGea
DEF:  Smalling, Bellerin, Clyne, Alderweireld
MID:  Silva, Ozil, Firmino
FWDS:  Aguero, Kane, Lukaku

Didn’t use my emergency transfer, and I’m currently on 1576 points (nearly 500 points scored since last window), and I’m currently 66th in FFG league (up from roughly 140th at last window). Definitely good progress made, far better than I could have hoped for. Don’t know my overall ranking, so if anyone can enlighten me, id be grateful.

As this is the last window, really need to maximize my scoring potential to get as high as possible. With that in mind, I’ll be looking at players with the most possible games to play. However, teams that are really struggling, or teams that have nothing to really play for, I will completely ignore. Therefore teams I’ll be looking at are Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, West Ham and Everton, as all have extra fixtures. Palace and Watford I’m going to ignore, firstly from form, and secondly I don’t expect either to win the cup, and as neither are high scoring teams, would only look at their defences anyway. Leicester and Spurs players are obviously worth considering with a title to go for, but lack any extra games.

Bearing all this in mind, very few players I’m actually looking to change. To me, the obvious ones are Bellerin, Ozil, and Firmino (only because of injury). Ideally I’d know the result of the Man Utd-West Ham replay before making changes, but obviously won’t, so will hedge my bets a bit.

Ozil, despite only being put in at the last window is going. Could be a risk, but Arsenals form isn’t brilliant, and no extra fixtures, mean I’m swapping him for Payet (form and fixtures).

Firmino, again only in at last window, and despite being extremely successful, is going. Muscle injuries are so difficult to judge, and cant tell how many (if any) games he will miss. So I’m going to swap him back with Coutinho (again form and fixtures).

I’m probably not going to use my 3rd transfer, as I cant see any value in taking anyone else out yet. Silva obviously hasn’t scored as highly as I would have liked, but with Sterling out for the season, and no return date yet for KDB, I’m keeping him. Last year I put him in my team at this window, and he scored me 45 points, hoping for something similar again.

Obviously all this could change depending on the international matches, so will make final choices closer to the end of the window.

The emergency transfer that’s available after the window, I’ll probably leave as long as possible, probably until I know the cup finalists, then look at getting someone in from the team I expect to win (so either Everton, Man Utd or West Ham).

Good luck to everyone.

Thanks Simon.  We’ll try  and catch up with Simon before the end of the Sun Dream Team transfer window 4 to see what his final transfers were
