Here’s my transfers for what was my second team for Sun Dream Team. May still tinker but this is it now
Sun Dream Team World Cup transfer window 1 tips – FFGeek Team 2 transfers
Remember it’s 4 transfers before the round of 16 and then 4 before the quarter finals. I’ll tell you the transfers and then talk you though my thought process later:
Ronaldo out – Benzema in
De Bruyne out – Robben in
Luiz out – Rojo in
Zhirkov out – Blind in
Here’s the team:
Essentially I haven’t gone for the risky option of backing quarter final teams and avoiding opponenets.
I did think about RVP instead of Benzema to avoid the France v Germany potential quarter final conflict but the Nigeria game is too tempting.
The rest of the attacking team has been performing too well to change them. I was never going to transfer out Muller Rodriguez Messi and Neymar. Robben was always coming in. It was just RVP or Benzema.
The defence was tricky. Blind was always coming in with Mexico and then Costa Rica or Greece next. He’s just excellent value. The question then was whether to just take Rodriguez out for Costa Ricas Gamboa. Costa Rica have a good game against Greece and a clean sheet is a good possibility. In the end I thought £5m was just too much for a defender playing Chile and potentially Colombia next so I put in Rojo of Argentina and left Rodriguez where he was. That also leaves me with £2m in the bank which I can use in the next round. I don’t like the prospect of double negative points against Argentina for Rodriguez but at the moment it seems the right option. I may change it later on but I’ll tweet it if I do.
So if the quarters end up like I think then here’s what team will be:
Brazil v Colombia – I will have 2 Colombia and 1 Brazil player. I would back Brazil so potentially transfer out 2.
France v Germany – I will lose 1 player at least if France lose. I would back Germany so transfer out 1.
Holland v Costa Rica – I think Holland will win here so no transfer loss.
Argentina v Belgium – I would back Argentina here so no transfers loss.
Switzerland will lose to Argentina so 1 transfer lost.
In total then if everything goes to plan I can cope with 4 transfers for that route. The imbalance of scoring between defenders and attacking players means that I could just sacrifice a defender if I needed.
