Defence and GK are 2 areas that don’t perform that well and youre best to spend your cash on midfielders and Strikers.
Here’s the key teams to look at defenders from and the best one in my view. They all have European representatiom as more fixtures gives extra time for points. They also cover last years best defensive teams
Chelsea
The best defensive team of last season with 18 premier league clean sheets. Personally I think the value of Filipe Luis at £5.0m is unmissable. Even if he rotates there’s enough games to catch it up with. The likely GK of Courtois seems too much in comparison.
Arsenal
To me Debuchy is the best value at £5.5m; He should play most games. You could put £2.5m Callum Chambers as a cheapie but he’s likely to miss alot of premier league games when Mertesacker is back. Especially if there’s cover boiught at CB. Too much competition for Szczesny and Ospina to pick one.
Manchester City
City have 2 players in all defensive positions so rotation will be an issue for everyone. Mangala at £4.5m seems very good value even if he doesn’t start immediately. GK Hart seems way too expensive at £6.0m
Everton
With Coleman injured he’s a risk to start with although he’s good value at £4.5m. With Everton in the Europa League that makes Stones at £2.5m less of a risk as if he doesn’t play in the EPL he will play in the domestic cups and the Europa League. Howard seems too expensive at £4.0m
Spurs
Davies at £3.0m seems good value and like Stones what he may miss in the premier league he will make up in the Europa League and Domestic Cups. Vertonghen has the love affair with Sun Dream Tea if you want to spend the £5.0m. LLoris at GK seems far to dear at £4.5M
Liverpool
Lovren is good value at £4.0m for me and my definite choice. Liverpool with a new LB and CB should be stringer defensively. GK Mignolet far too expensive
Hull
Personally I would pay the top cost of £2.5 for Curtis Davies who definitely has a love affair with the Sun. Chester is the cheaper option at £1.5m. McGregor at £1.5m is excellent value though and my GK choice
