TFFWC2014

With the telegraph world cup fantasy football you’ve got a number of transfers to use plus a chance to do them anytime during the day.  TFF allows you to see lineups before doing transfers.  Below I’ve given a list of potential transfer options for each of the round of 16 games.  It’s brief unfortuantely but should give you some food for thought

Telegraph World Cup fantasy football tips – Options for the round of 16

Holland v Mexico

A game where Mexico will sit back and try and win the game late on if at all.  Hard to see Holland not the ultimate victor though

RVP

3 goals in 2 starts.  Great form.  Should have pens

Robben

3 starts, 3 goals and 1 key contribution.  Plays in a very advanced position

Sneijder

3 games 3 key contributions.  Hasn’t been in great form but has the class and helped by the wider key contribution rule in TFF

Costa Rica v Greece

Costa Rica will go to win but Greece will try and sit back.  Could be a good bet to go to pens and the point bonanza that results from TFF

Campbell

A cheap striking option for TFF.  1 goal and 1 Key contribution in 3 games

Ruiz

The creative force in the midfield although only a goal to date and no key contribution.  Playing well despite these stats though

France v Nigeria

Could be alot of goals in this and France should win easily in my view

Benzema

Fantastic form.  3 goals and 3 key contributions.  Should keep pens despite the miss against Switzerland

Griezmann

May not start so check the lineups but a good attacking option in midfield despite no goals or key contributions to date.  Little gametime security going forward though

Valbuena

2 starts 1 goal and 1 key contribution.  Has good  set piece representation and can lineup in the front 3.

Pogba

2 starts 2 key contributions.  A box to box player with a real threat at set pieces

The French defence

A good chance of a clean sheet here.  Sakho if fit so check the lineups is the cheapest option and seems to have secure gametime

Germany v Algeria

Germany should win this with a decent amount of goals.  Podolski, Hummels and Boateng have injuries and lineups need to be checked

Any of a number of players could be a good transfer if they start.  However here’s the more gametime secure players

Muller

4 goals and 1 key contribution.  Playing in the main as a central striker although movement of the attacking players sees some positional rotation

Gotze

Not that secure as Podolski, Schurrle or Klose could take his place but probably more secure than his competition for the spot.  2 starts for 1 goal and 1 key contribution

The German defence

A great chance of a clean sheet here despite some questionable form.  Howedes despite some dubious form himself  is the budget option and seems to be holding his place.

Argentina v Switzerland

Argentina should win this.  Questionable how many goals.  Switzerland were terrible in defence against France but generally have been strong defensively prior to the World Cup.  Aguero could be out for the tournamnet.

Messi

4 goals and 1 key contribution in 3 starts.  Has pens and direct free kicks.  A must have

Higuain

Only 1 key contribution to date in 2 starts and hasn’t been in great form.  However has the class but you would be banking on this showing through

Di Maria

Again only 1 key contribution for 3 starts to date.  However finally showed form in the last Group game.  Had a fantastic club season you’re looking for these 2 pointers to goals and key contributions coming

The Argentinian defence

The defence isn’t their strength with only 1 clean sheet here but still good chance of a clean sheet for me.  Rojo is the value pick

Belgium v USA

With Belgium stuttering and the USA on a high this could be tighter than originally envisaged.  Kompany and Vermaelen are injury doubts.  Jones and Altidore are injury doubts for the USA

Origi

The form forward with a goal and a key contribution in 3 sub apppearances.  Questionable whether will start so check lineups

Lukaku

Would be a big show of faith given the form shown to date. 2 starts in a favourable Group have seen no goals or key contributions

Hazard

Only shown his Chelsea form in 10 minutes in 2 starts so far.  2 key contributions in 2 starts

Mertens

A number of chances but just can’t finish although has scored 1 goal in his 2 starts.  Not gametime secure so lineups need checking.

The Belgium defence

A reasonable chance of a clean sheet given they have 2 to date.  An injury doubt to Kompany won’t help though.  Alderweireld is the value option.

Dempsey

The main attacking threat for the USA with a sensational World Cup.  Can be isolated though if USA come to defend.  3 starts and 2 goals.  Available as a cheap midfielder.

Hope that gives you some food for thought.

Good luck today
