Brazil v Germany

I’ve given ownership %.  If you’re leading you may want to put those in with high ownership to block others.  If you’re behind low ownership players will give you a differential and a boost to your ranking should they get points.

The must haves:

Muller (£5.6m)

If you don’t have him then I’m surprised you’re even bothering with your team.  As I write he’s owned by 66% of teams.  If he scores your ranking will be affected be assured

Oscar (£5.8m)

Probably just short of the must have category as his ownership is only 29% so not such a risk.  Should play more centrally though with Neymar injured so his prospects will definitely be enhanced

Strikers

Fred (£7.0m)

Should start and although his form has been questionable.  However, the fact that he is positioned centrally and will probably have an additional creative player in Willian in the team means he may score by just being in the right place at the right time.  Low 9% ownership so scoring should boost your ranking.

Klose (£7.0m)

Need the lineup checked and you have to accept that he may only start this game and not the final/3rd place team.  Is a good international scorer.  Although quiet in the last game he started he does give Germany good structure and is an excellent penalty area finisher.  Low 6% ownership

Midfielders

Gotze (£5.3m)

May not start and a substitution risk when he does but this is an excellent attacking midfielder and has shown glimpses in the World Cup of what he can do.  Again if you transfer him in you have to accept he may not start in the next game.  9% ownership

Schurrle (£5.0m)

Again need to check the lineups as he’s not a certain starter by any stretch.  Has been excellent as a sub but didn’t play that well in the game that he started.  Brazil are likely to go on the offensive so Schurrles ability on the counter could be a threat.  Very low ownership

The defence

Given the low scoring quarter finals I would have defenders from both teams here as well as a GK in case it goes to pens.

For Brazil GK Cesar (£3.9m)  is excellent value  and also will benefit from healthy save points if it goes to pens.  Luiz (£4.6m) seems to be the best attacking threat but he’s expensive.  If he starts  Maicon £3.6m is cheap but with no gametime security.

For Germany Howedes (£3.5m) is the best value by some distance.

The cheapie options

Unfortunately there isn’t really anyone but check the lineups for any surprises

Possible lineups:

Brazil:  Cesar, Alves, Marcelo, Dante, Luiz – Gustavo Fernadino – Willian Oscar Hulk – Fred

Germany:  Neuer, Lahm, Howedes, Hummels, Boateng – Khedira, Schweinsteiger – Muller, Kroos, Ozil – Klose

Argentina v Holland

Must haves

Messi (£8.0m)

Carried Argentina to this position almost single handedly.  An absolute must have.  68% ownership

Robben (£5.7m)

Consistently been in good form.  Should go back to being a pair with RVP. 63% ownership.

RVP (£7.6m)

Hasn’t been in the greatest of form in the last 2 games but still has the quality to hurt you if he scores.  52% ownership

Strikers

Higuain (£7.6m)

After a poor start to the tournament was excellent against Belgium scoring the winner.  Bound to be high on confidence.  9% ownership.

Aguero

Apparently fit but who knows what that means anymore.  Unquestionable talent and finishing ability.  It’s just whether you want to take the injury risk.  Very low ownership.

Midfielders

Sneijder (£5.4m)

Improving as the tournament goes on and was excellent against Costa Rica.  Will be further forward if Holland goes back to playing behind Robben and RVP.  27% ownership

Defenders

Argentina have the best chance of a clean sheet here.  Holland have good value though to fill your team.  A GK is a must for any pen shootout but remember Cillisen probably wont be involved in it after the quarters.  Krul could give you the value of a pen shootout without the risk of negative points for goals conceded

For Argentina Rojo (£3.7m) and Demichelis (£3.5m)  are  the best value if they start.  GK Romero (£3.8m) is also reasonable value.

For Holland Blind ££2.7m) and De Vrij (£3.3m) are the value

Cheapies

Lineups need to be checked in all cases obviously.  All have very low ownership

Perez (£2.3m)

Was the sub for Di Maria and could start.  A defensive mined midfield player though.  4 goals and 4 assists in 28 games for Benfica last season.

Wijnaldum (£3.0m)

Seems a solid midfield starter for the Dutch but no goals or assists so far in the WC

De Guzman (£3.6m)

A CM for Holland.  Has a reasonable goalscoring record for Swansea althogh only 1 key contribution to date

Gago (£3.9m)

No goals or assists so far in this WC and no goals in 9 qualifying appearances for Argentina. 1 goal in 105 appearances in La Liga says it all.

Possible lineups:

Argentina:  Romero, Zabaleta, Rojo, Demichelis, Garay – Mascherano, Perez, Gago – Higuain Messi Aguero

Holland:  Cillesen, Kuyt, Blind, Vlaar (injury doubt) De Vrij Martins Indi – Wijnaldum, De Guzman – Sneijder – RVP Robben

Here’s my team as it stands.  Only 1 transfer tonight.  Will probably be Oscar for James Rodriguez
