With the Sun Dream Team World Cup 2014 having no substitutions and no transfers in the Group stages. Then only 4 prior to the knockout and 4 prior to the semis. Picking players from the right team who have secure gametime becomes important.
Howeever if you want to take a risk on these elements then here’s a few players who offer reasonable value and could take off if things go right for them.

Gotze
Offers a significant saving on Muller and Reus (now an injury doubt) and could potentially play in the false 9 position as Low has seemed reluctant in recent friendlies to involve the only recognised striker in the team in Klose. This gamble took a further setback yesterday when Muller played in the number 9 position. Is great value as a midfielder but would be a significant gamble
Group G fixtures: Portugal Ghana USA
Fabregas
Spain have got to be a good bet to get to the semis at least right? Their Group could be better but it would be a major shock if they don’t go through. However the midfield is rotated apart from Iniesta who isn’t a particular goal threat. To make it worse, Spain themselves didn’t consistently burst goals in qualifying. Striker Diego Costa should be fit and this gives an obvious Spain option but you would want to avoid a striker spot surely if you could. Spain have one more friendly against El Salvador to give some clues but irrespective of that line up midfield rotation is inherent in the Spain side. The problem you want to avoid is playing someone playing 2 games in the Group stages and rested for 1.
Fabregas has a reasonable goal threat although if Costa returns his days as a false 9 seem over. Started 5 games in qualifying and 2 as sub. Has a reasonable overall record for Spain and Barcelona but didn’t score in qualifying. Can contribute from the bench though.
A big gamble
Group B fixtures: Holland Chile Australia
Pedro
Plays in an advanced position, the speedy winger/forward has a real ability to score. If there wasn’t a danger of being rested for 1 game in the Group stages then he would be a real option. Great goals scoring record for Club and country overall and in qualifying. Started 6 games and was a sub for 2 in qualifying.
Possibly the best of the Spain gambles in midfield
Group B fixtures: Holland Chile Australia
Silva
Has a very good record for Spain and finished the season strongly for Man City playing a number of games as a number 10. Thats unlikely for Spain. The injury layoffs could mean he’s fresher for the World Cup but the reverse is that he’s more likely to be rested for 1 of the Group games to avoid the inherent injury risk that he carries. Started 5 games in qualifying and 2 as sub.
Group B fixtures: Holland Chile Australia
Yaya Toure
After a season where he scored 3 times the goals that he ever did previously in the premier league the question is can he repeat his amazing season again in the World Cup? Drogba will probably take pens so that avenue for goals is probably going to be closed off. Does have a reasonable Group but he will definitely be one of your transfers in the future as it’s unlikely that Ivory Coast will get to the semis. Has the advantage of being the star of the team with Drogba putting him in the frame for Star Man awards.
Group C fixtures: Japan Colombia Greece
Pogba
A positional risk as opposed to a gametime risk. Is it worth investing in a box to box player for France who is so early in his career. Yes the Group has very good fixtures and his goal record isn’t too bad but for me it’s a gamble.
Group E fixtures: Honduras Switzerland Ecuador
Next is cheapie midfielders before we move on to strikers, defenders and GKs
