UEFA McDonalds Euro Fantasy tips – draft wildcard team for the quarters

Firstly here’s the team with a bit of narrative around it

So the team is pretty radically different than the previous team.  That’s the reason I went for the wildcard.

It firstly concentrates on the 4 teams I expect to win the quarters those being Portugal, Belgium, Germany and France.  That is the gamble to minimise the transfers needed for the semi’s which are limited to 6.

The 2nd thing worth discussing is the compromises and gambles needed to be taken in order to field a full team.  These start with the reserve GK. I needed someone at £4.0m in order to meet the budget.  The 2nd is the injury risk of Portuguese defender   Raphael Guerreiro.  I will see the lineups so I could switch if he’s not selected.  The 3rd is France defender Umtiti who as you may have seen from my tweet is a possible starter for the suspended CB Rami.  That’s 3 potential transfers for the semi’s I could do without.  I may switch Ronaldo for Lukaku and drop one of the Belgian midfielders  to give a better spread but will chew over that today

So while I’ve stuck with Ronaldo I’ve switched loyalties in the France team to Griezmann due to his form and ownership.  I’ve switched from Muller to Gomez.  That’s due to the central position of Gomez over Muller who has played on the right.

After that nothing particularly surprising.

If you’re having problems with the wildcard it is like the website itself a joke system.  The play wildcard words don’t come up until you’ve done the last transfer.
