Subs not used: Feudjou, Aboubakar, Makoun, Bedimo, Fabrice,
Salli, Matip, Nyom, N’Djock.
Booked: Nounkeu

Lineup comment

Mexico:  GK Ocha was the surprise.  Guardado started in midfield instead of Pena.  Hernandez was on the bench.

Cameroon:  The 2 FBs were unexpected with Djegone and BAE coming in.  Attacking midfielder Makoun didn’t make it.

Match comment

A bizzare game of attack vs defence.  Cameroon really didn’t seem interested in attacking at all until Mexico scored.  The 3 Cameroon forwards were also pushed back by the Mexico wingbacks who had good games.

Player comment

Peralta

The only Mexican player worth investing in scored.  However this was his easiest Group game so too late for investment now

Eto’o

The star of the Cameroon team was isolated principally by his 2 fellow fortwards being pushed back by the Mexican wing backs and if anything it was BAE from LB who got forward.  Had one chance and was unlucky but apart from that struggled as a one man attack.

Sun Dream Team scoring

Mexico:  7+ ratings all over the place.  Dos Santos was deservedly Star Man and Peralta also got an 8.

Cameroon:  Only BAE got a 7 which seemed right to me.

Holland 5 Spain 1

Goals: De Vrij RVP 2 Robben 2/Alonso pen Assists:  Blind 2 Sneijder/Costa

lineup (from daily mail including ratings)

Spain: Casillas 5, Azpilicueta 6.5, Sergio Ramos 5.5, Pique 5.5, Jordi Alba 7, Alonso 7.5 (Pedro 63), Xavi 7, Busquets 6, Silva 7.5, Diego Costa 7 (Torres 62), Iniesta 7.
Subs: De Gea, Albiol, Javi Martinez, Juanfran, Villa, Fabregas, Mata, Koke, Cazorla, Reina.
Holland: Cillessen 7, Janmaat 6, Vlaar 7.5, De Vrij 7, Martins Indi 6.5, Blind 7, de Guzman 6, Sneijder 6, De Jong 6.5, Van Persie 8, Robben 8.
Subs: Vorm, Verhaegh, Veltman, Kongolo, Kuyt, Clasie, Lens, Fer, Huntelaar, Wijnaldum, Depay, Krul.

Lineup comment

Spain:  Azpili started at RB over Juan Fran and Silva started over Pedro.

Holland:  Started with a back 5.  De Guz started over Fer.

Match comment

Spain started off controlling possession but the RVP goal changed the match.  After that Spain’s lack of pressing and defensive instability particularly at the CB position, lead to an incredible victory.  Robben and RVP particularly were fantastic.  You have to remember that Spain haven’t conceded a goal in 2014.

Player comment

RVP

Could you imagine RVP playing like this for Man Utd and then high fiving Moyes after scoring last season?  This was RVP at his best.    His finishing and linking of play was incredible.  With Australia next he looks a great transfer for those in a format where you can.

Robben

An equally incredible performance and another option for a transfer when they play Australia

Blind

2 assists and excellent crossing.  Also has the ability to play in midfield.  Potential for transfer against Australia but hard to see a Dutch CS against Chile

The Spanish defence

Pique and Ramos were terrible as was Casillas.  They weren’t helped by a complete lack of pressing from the midfield upwards but there has to be potential casulties for the next game amongst those 3.  Hard to see them keeping a clean sheet against Chile either after this.

Iniesta

The guaranteed starter in the midfield and the highest % owned in fox sports only had 1 shot which hardly bodes well for the future.  Should be goals though in the Chile game but this is someone who didn’t score a single goal in qualifying

Sun Dream Team scoring

Spain:  Iniesta Alons Xavi and Silva all got 7’s

Holland:  Surprisingly only a sprinkling of 7’s but 9’s for RVP and Robben with RVP getting the Star Man award

Chile 3 Australia 1

Goals:  Valdiva Sanchez Beaujesour/Cahill  Assists:  Sanchez/ Franjic

Lineups

Chile: Bravo, Isla, Medel, Jara, Mena, Aranguiz, Diaz, Vidal, Alexis, Valdivia, Vargas.
Subs: Toselli, Albornoz, Silva,Carmona, Pinilla, Rojas, Orellana, Beausejour, Gutierrez,
Fuenzalida, Paredes, Herrera.

Australia: Ryan, Franjic, Wilkinson, Spiranovic, Davidson, Leckie, Jedinak, Milligan, Oar, Bresciano, Cahill.
Subs: Langerak, Wright, Taggart, Halloran, Bozanic, Troisi, Holland, McKay, McGowan, Vidosic, Luongo, Galekovic.

Lineup comment:

Chile:  Vidal made a surrpise recovery from his injury starting over Carmona or Gutierrez

Australia:  No surprises here

Match comment:

Chile started off ripping Australia apart, like they could win by double figures and scored 2 early.  Sanchez was unstoppable and Australia were being torn apart on their right side by Mena in particular.  However a typical Cahill goal got Australia back into the match.  The game turned into some sort of kids match with each side trying to out attack each other.  The game ended with Australia putting heavy pressure on to equalise but sub Beausjeour scored an excellent goal to seal it.

Player comment:

Sanchez

The Barca player was excellent here and a constant threat.  However with 2 tricky games to go the Sanchez ship has sailed for anyone.

Vidal

Last 60 odd minutes and was nothing like the box to box force he was with Juventus.  Again that ship has sailed with 2 tricky games to go.

Valdiva

Was excellent in his attacking midfield role but again has the same limitations

The Chile defence

I guess a CB partnership of Jara and Medel could hardly be that solid but Cahill made a mockery of them and RVP should have them for breakfast after Australia next.

The Australian defence

Even though Australia came back into the game Chile constantly opened up the Australian defence. To Australias credit they refused to just defend to keep the score down which didn’t help but RVP and Robben again could run riot here

Cahill

Was brilliant here but he couldn’t have had a more compliant CB partnership to jump against.  Wont find it so easy against Spain and Holland

Sun Dream Team scoring

Chile: No surprises that Sanchez was the Star Man.  Bravo, Valdiva and Vargas got 7’s.

Australia:  Cahill got 8.  Leckie Jedinak and Bresciano got 7’s.

Key players for day 3

Colombia v Greece

Colombia:  Gutierrez is the more likely starter here although the Greece defence has a good record.  Rodriguez is the creative force.  Colombia are a great bet to keep a clean sheet.

Greece:  Mitroglou is the best bet for any attacking threat

Uruguay v Costa Rica

Uruguay:  I dont think Suarez will be risked but Cavani is a good option for a transfer in if you play a format that allows.  It’s now or never as this is the only easy Group fixture.  Gaston Ramirez or Christian Rodriguez for the midfield.  Uruguay are a great bet for a clean sheet and again it’s now or never given the rest of the Group opponents.  The A Madrid CB Godin is an excellent attacking threat

Costa Rica:  The Group’s whipping boys should be avoided

England v Italy

England:  Rooney is still the best bet for me although if he wasn’t in my squad now then I wouldn’t be putting him in for this game.  I wouldn’t transfer in anyone for the midfield for this game.

Italy:  Once the team sheet is announced Ballotelli or Immobile are the best bet.

That’s it.  Enjoy the games.
