Here’s the news update as of the morning of Wednesday 11 June 2014. Quite brief today but still covering Ronaldo, Suarez, Gerrard and more
World Cup fantasy football – News Update Wednesday 11 June 2014
Ronaldo
Just when you thought you could discount him due to injury he goes and plays 64 minutes for Portugal in the thrashing of ROI 5-1. It’s still his first game back and their Group could be easier but they still should progress. Hard to see him not starting in Portugals first game against Germany.
Diego Costa
If you’re looking at coverage of the Spain team, difficult Group or not, then Costa could be the answer given the rotation risk in their midfield. He’s in full training and saying he’s fully fit.
YYT
No more news on YYT. Still not taken part in full training
Suarez
No date given for his return but he certainly looking sprightly in the training pictures released. I imagine Uruguay will bank on beating Costa Rica without risking him and that he will return for the England game next.
Gerrard
Hodgson confirmed there were no injury issues with Gerrard and he didn’t understand where the story had come from
Welbeck
Injury doubt apparently a groin.
The Ox
Hodgson hopes that he will be fit for the Uruguay match.
Portugal 5 -ROI 1
As I said above the main news was that Ronaldo played 64 minutes. Interestingly no goal though.
Hugo Almedia scored twice although Postiga is probably the most likely to play. He came on at 65 minutes. Injury doubts Pepe played 35 minutes and Merieles played 35 minutes.
