What’s on the Pod?

Note:  First of all we recorded this pod prior to anyone knowing Alexander Arnold was going to be out for 4 weeks

We talk about our seasons so far as well as GW8.  We then outline our plans for GW9 including transfers and captains

We then answer questions from the FFGeek Slack Channel

The questions

Jota vs Leicester, Son vs City or Bamford vs Arsenal for my bench?

The podders thoughts on wildcarding……going for it now over international break or hold until Christmas?? (for those that still have it) Arguments for both sides, pros & cons

Are De Bruyne/Sterling worth it? Or is Jesus viable on his own for City?

Thoughts on Jota and Ziyech would be interesting.

Who’s the best Captain for GW9?

With the fixture shift what cheap defender do you think is the best option right now, Kilman hard fixtures Justin out if Pereira returns.. Mitchell out..

Is it time to lose both Kane and Son for their difficult upcoming fixture run ? Are you planning to keep one or both or switch them out altogether ? Could it be a spectacular own goal to lose both with their ownership Sky high ?

Is it viable to go three cheap strikers to put money into midfield, or would you reserve one premium striking spot for Kane , Aguero, Vardy or Werner ?

Now that Bruno got two goals and assists from open play and Isn’t just about penalties, is he becoming essential, especially with West Brom at home next ?

Who do the pod like for premium defenders other than Chilwell? (who seems the only nailed on premier). All the big clubs seem to have their issues and/or poor fixtures.

Follow up on wild cards: what are your usual parameters for deciding to use it? Is it number of problems with team, change in fixtures, or a combo of them. Or something else?

Possible Impact of Covid on Form vs Fixtures: Favourable FDR has declined in its predictive value for player FPL pts performance, supplanted by higher predictive value of a player and teams xPTS (xG and xA). What’s the easiest way to test this and at what point would you adjust your strategy accordingly?

Which order do you rank these defenders:

-Patrick van Aanholt

-Tariq Lamptey

-Alex Telles

-Hector Bellerin

Vardy from GW10?

Would you stick with Foden with the fixture up turn in gw10 or does his rotation risk outweigh the fixtures?
