Here’s the GW11 fantasy premier league “ones to watch”. This is a menu of fantasy premier league players to pick from for your team with factors stating why. (values as at Wednesday 7/11 PM)
If you’re not familiar with the format I’ve put the removals from last week in strikethrough to show you who has come off from last week. The new fantasy premier league players and reasons why are added in italics to make it easier to follow.
Ive added a new feature putting BUY HOLD or SELL next to players to clarify my position an all players except budget and bubbling under players. It aso makes it easier for people wanting a quick look rather than going through the whole article. At the bottom is a key if you want a bit more detail on the factors listed
GOALKEEPER
Hart – £6.9m – quality fixtures HOLD
Another clean sheet to quieten the doubters. City are still statistically the best defence in the league in my view. Fixtures aren’t great at all starting with Spurs home but the clean sheets will still come. Hart is the cheapest secure option where the only other is Kompany at £7.3m
Ruddy £4.5m budget
Needs home and away rotation with another GK but fewer and fewer options in the budget section. The Norwich defence again is not as bad as its painted as a clean sheet last week showed.
Jaaskelainen £5.0m budget
Fixtures are dire and its a rotation only option.
Begovic £5.0m budget fixtures
The best of the cheap options and the best team apart from the elite teams. Great fixtures.
McCarthy – £4.1m budget fixtures short term
Federici is now fit though so may only be short term. Don’t buy just hold. Has an injury doubt
Mannone -£4.6m budget fixtures short term
Szczesny according to physio room will be back this week so time is running out in theory. Except we’ve heard it all before including last week.
Guzan – £4.5m budget
Can anybody be first choice with Lambert in charge. No defensive stats but if you’re looking for a filler its another option. Rotation only.
DEFENCE
Rafael – £6.2m – value. attack HOLD
Despite all the negative hype Utd’s defensive stats aren’t that bad, just not the best. However Rafael, as he did again on the weekend, always gives you the chance for attacking points to compensate. The fixtures are now very good although 2 games away arent perfect. However a defensive presence is absolutely necessary. Rafael has risks with Smalling and Jones coming back but no one is safe from rotation. Didn’t start against Braga which is positive for the weekend
Jagielka – £6.1m fixtures. HOLD
If you’ve got the cash for Baines (£7.6m) you’ll get the returns. The defence hasn’t performed but has the underlying stats. Still 3 games before the fixtures turn to rubbish. Dont sell.
Huth£5.5m fixtures attack BUY
Great fixtures and great attacking potential especially with Adam whipping in free kicks and corners. Shawcross is cheaper at £5.0m and Wilkinson at £4.4m and Cameron at £4.6m. All should play after the injury to Wilson.
Simpson £4.8m fixtures HOLD
Surprisingly left on the bench but injury to Perch with no return date and Coloccini banned for 3 games should see him hold the next few good fixtures. Defensive stats aren’t anything to write home about but have got the potential for clean sheets at Home. Also has an injury doubt
Santon £5.0m BUY
Same comments apply. Im not a fan of the Newcastle defence but fixtures are good and if you’re looking for someone relatively cheap then its as good as any other option.
Cuellar £4.5m fixtures BUY
3 clean sheets over play what is a pretty poor statistical defence but a good goalkeeper has helped that. The good news is they’re forced to play defensively as they really cant seem to score.
Budget
Clyne £4.0m– Saints attack. fixtures.
Fonte £4.1m– Saints fixtures
Gorkks – £3.9m Reading. fixtures
Nelsen – QPR £4.0m A short term batch of good fixtures coming.
Davies £4.0m– Seems to be holding his place as Swansea LB. Fixtures are now ordinary. Rotation only.
Wisdom – £4.5m budget short term
Enrique now fit but place secure for the moment as Johnson injured. Although apparently back this week. However Enrique doesnt suit Rodgers style so Wisdom may even hold his place. Great value for a Liverpool RB even if the fixtures are ordinary
MIDFIELD
Hazard – £10.3m pen quality SELL
Poor fixtures. I know sell such a talent? Now is the time in my view as better options open up. Underlying stats are ordinary doesn’t look fixture proof to me and home to Liverpool is a good place to sell
Bale – £9.6m – Quality.SEll
Poor fixtures. However, he can score against anyone and to a degree is fixture proof but if you cant use him as captain due to unreliability then what’s the point. If you’re happy giving the armband to RVP everyweek then there’s no reason to sell as he will continue to return.
Pienaar – £6.9m – fixtures.HOLD
3 good fixtures before I would start selling Everton assets.
Fellaini – £7.2m form. fixtures. BUY
Top of the midfield shooting stats. Was unplayable on the weekend. Even for the 3 games against Sunderland, Reading and Norwich he will be worth it. Warning though after those 3 games the fixtures are terrible.
Cazorla – £9.4m quality. BUY
Underlying shooting stats have improved and keeps creating chances. The good fixtures start here home to Fulham and then continue being reasonable.
Lallana – £6.0m – fixtures form BUY
Good underlying stats. The hub of the saints midfield. Some good fixtures around the corner starting with SWA H QPR A
Dempsey – £9.2m. quality SELL
I think I was a little premature recommending him. Doesnt appear to be fixture proof at the moment so should sell as the fixtures have fallen through the floor starting away to City
Ben Arfa. – £7.9m Quality. form. BUY
Doesn’t really shoot enough and too much outside the box however the next best Newcastle to coverage at the moment apart from Ba assuming he recovers from injury. Cabaye is just an assist player and the goals are an aberration to me
Walters – £6.4m fixtures HOLD
The last couple of games haven’t seen the returns or the position high up the pitch but theres no reason to sell with these fixtures
McAnuff – £5.1m fixtures BUY
The only certain attacking starter in the Reading midfield. An assist based player only but still the best option in the Reading midfield
Valencia £8.6m – fixtures BUY
If RVP is too expensive for your Utd coverage then he’s you’re next best bet for reliability of selection. I probably prefer Young as a fantasy premier league player but Valencia has more game time prospects. If you are having an assist based player then one who is feeding chances to RVP and Rooney is one to have.
Taarabt – £5.5m fixtures HOLD
Away to Stoke is a tricky one next but then home to Saints is a good one.
Mata £9.4m form BUY
Fixtures arent easy but hes the closest to a fixture proof midfielder that there is. Bale is more proven but Mata intuitively looks like a better captain option if needed. LIV (H) WBA (A) MCY (H) are really testing fixtures though.
Budget £4.5m ish
Schneiderlin – £4.4m Saints
Sterling – £5.2 m Now seems like he will hold his place.
FORWARDS
Tevez £9.5m – quality. form fixtures. HOLD
The fixtures are now difficult for City but 2 homes games to Spurs and Villa arent the time to sell. Out of the Capital One and going out of the Champs league should reduce rotation.
RVP – £13.5m – QUALITY. BUY
The only really reliable coverage for the Utd team at the moment with the midfield rotation and Rooney dropping deeper. Underlying stats aren’t as good as last year but is finishing off chances when they come.
Jelavic – £8.5m – fixtures quality form HOLD
Lethal finisher who hasnt been in top form in the last few games. 3 good games to go before you would think of selling him
Berbatov – £7.1m quality. form value.SELL
Even for his quality the fixtures are just to challenging starting away to Arsenal. Nows the time to sell
Lambert – £6.1m form. Fixtures. value HOLD
Held his place again. Home to Swansea is not the time to sell. Fixtures are still holding up.
Defoe – £8.0m – Form. quality. value SELL
Fixtures have gone starting away to City. Value or not its just too difficult
Ba – £8.3m form. BUY
Fixtures are strong although Has the ability to score against any opposition. Monitor the injury position for this week before buying
Aguero – £11.1m. QUALITY BUY
As for Tevez. Rotation should reduce. Quiet game last week but has the quality to score anytime.
Suarez – £9.8m fixtures HOLD
Top of the shooting stats despite the hard fixtures start. Has problems finishing but after the Chelsea game fixtures are very good starting with Wigan at home
Crouch £6.8m value fixtures HOLD
Fixtures now look good but hasn’t
Lukaku £6.4m SELL
On the bench for the Southampton game and didn’t play well when came off. A great talent but just cant get any security over game time. Fixtures are now fairly mixed starting with Wigan away and Chelsea at home.
Holt £6.0m BUY
Seems to be an assured starter and away to Reading is always a good time to buy
I’m not putting a budget section for strikers. I just think the position is too important and theres too much quality to put a filler in.
KEY
quality – an elite player for his position
value – a player at a value that is less than the returns I expect
fixtures – a player facing good fixtures over the next 6 games
budget – filler at the minimum price the position allows. Should play
sleeping giant – a player with past form who may have had a quiet season last year but has the potential for far greater returns than his value
YC – card magnet
DGW – has 2 games in the specified game week
pre-season – has pre-season form
pens – should take penalties
short term – will only play for a few games
Form – current form
