Barclays fantasy premier league “ones to watch” game week 26

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s the GW26  Barclays fantasy premier league “ones to watch”.  This is a menu of fantasy premier league players to pick from for your team with factors stating why. (values as at Friday 8/2).  If I’m recommending a player from the same team in the wording of another player, I’ve highlighted them in bold

At the bottom is a key if you want a bit more detail on the factors listed in the decision

GOALKEEPER

Szczesny £5.3m fixtures Value BUY

Good fixtures good defence despite what you’re told.  Good value in relation to other defensive options.

De Gea £5.5m fixtures value BUY

SAF seems to have totally lost faith in Lindegaard so his place seems reasonably secure.  That’s more than you can say for anyone in the Man U defence except maybe Evra.  However  no defence is worth the £7.1m that he costs, let alone the Man U defence which has not been at its best.  However I’m banking on Vidic and fixtures to produce more clean sheets

DEFENCE

Sagna £5.1m fixtures  value BUY

The Arsenal defence is underrated despite what pundits may say and Sagna also brings good attacking potential at a really reasonable price.  Seems to have weathered  the awful performance against Chelsea.    Reasonable fixtures  as well.

Zabaleta £6.1m value  BUY

With Maicon  now back he may suffer a little rotaton after not being rested for a while.  City  definitely are the best defence in the league and apart from the certainty of Kompany at £7.1m this is the best option.  Has experienced a strong upturn in attacking returns this year as well. Nastastic and Clichy at £5.6m also look an option at a slightly cheaper price but you need to accept more rotation with these.

Cameron £4.9m value fixtures BUY

Despite the issues Stoke are having defensively a this price he still looks good value.  Stoke have great fixtures in which to recover their defensive mettle from as well.   Personally I’ve cashed in and are waiting for Wilson to recover from injury and then have coverage at £4.0m

 A Cole £6.5m BUY

At the moment the best representation of the Chelsea defence which still looks strong at home but not particularistic away.  Azpilicueta looks better value but is subject to rotation

Rafael £6.0m fixtures attack BUY

To me Evra although the least rotatable player is just too expensive at £7.1m and Rafael is the best option of the rest all of which are very rotatable.  His attacking emphasis will hopefully see him play the easier home games where United are stronger for clean sheets.  Smalling doesn’t seem to have come in to the reckoning at RB and Jones may just be used to give some athleticism to the central midfield when Cleverly is rested.

Dawson £4.5m value BUY

Lets not kid ourselves the CB position at Spurs under AVB is a total rotational lottery but £4.5m is a total bargain for coverage  and he’s now played the last 6 fantasy premier league games.  Walker at £6.1m is the cheapest with secure selection but too me thats too bigger value gap to warrant his selection

Liverpool defence DGW 26

Johnson and Agger are the pricey options with attacking potential at £6.5m and £6.4m respectively. Enrique should play both games and is cheaper at £5.9m.  Carragher has played the last 3 and is far cheaper at £5.0m but is a punt as to whether he will play 2 games (although they are 6 days apart).

MIDFIELD

Mata £10.1m quality  BUY

Returned in his last 9 starts apart from the Saints game and if you ignore the jaded first 3 games to the season has returned in every game he’s started apart from the City and Southampton games.  RVP type consistency.  Fixtures are ranked 12 of all the teams in terms of fixture ease. Has been overperforming his underlaying stats but with the consistency and his fundamental central advanced position in the Chelsea team its one thats impossible to ignore

Walcott £9.6m fixtures striker BUY

Even with Giroud  back as striker  Walcott almost looked like he was a second striker he’s playing so far forward albeit wider than before Giroud.   Certainly on form and fixtures its still a definite buy in my mind.    Top of the last 6 shooting stats and 5th overall.  Arsenal are 3rd on fixture ease.

Michu £8.4m form striker  DGW26 BUY

2nd in the overall shooting stats and 3rd in the last 6.     Despite a scoring drought of 7 games the underlying stats are still strong and suggest the goals will return.  That’s irrelevant really as there’s no way he can be sold or not bought before a Swansea double game week.  Longer term fixtures arent great, 15th in the fixture ease schedule. Apart from a couple of exceptions returns better with the easier teams.  The underlying stats and the double game week mean its a BUY for me though.

Fellaini £7.8m fixtures striker HOLD

Was back to his unplayable best last week and played in the support striker position.  However the fixtures aren’t great and for that reason I’m reluctant to recommend a buy just at this point.

Bale £9.8m Quality  BUY

4th in the overall and last 6 shooting stats.  Whenever I don’t have him in my team I get burned.  11th in the fixture ease but fixtures don’t bother him.  Will score no matter what the opposition.

Silva £9.4m Quality BUY

Haven’t got that great fixtures but he is an option if for some reason you don’t want Aguero or Dzeko upfront.  9th in the overall and 8th in the last 6 shooting stats and also creates chances.

Dempsey £9.0m BUY but risky

With Defoe out should hold the advanced position behind him.  Has crept in to the last 6 shooting stats despite limited minutes and has scored 2 in his last 5.  Has also featured in the current gameweek top 10 twice in the last 3 times.   problem is he’s expensive and you would always go for Bale ahead of him.  Fixtures are ok without being great and certainly don’t warrant 2 Spurs players but if you’re looking for something different.

Lampard £8.5m BUY but risky

Similar dilemma as Dempsey as mata seems essential.  However the Chelsea fixtures are better than Spurs and Lamps is 2nd in the last 6 shooting stats despite ostensibly being a sitting midfielder.  Is far better value though than Mata though at £8.5m.  However the risk here is that Hazard is returning from suspension and Mikel and Moses will soon be back from ACON accelerating the Benitez rotation obsession. Again though if you’re looking for something different.

Walters £6.4m fixtures BUY

Purely a fixture play.  Has no form and hasn’t returned in his last 6 but has shown the ability historically to score against poor opposition and they now have the best fixtures of anyone starting with Reading at home.

Hasn’t returned in the last 2 and also not shown up in the current game week shooting stats in the last 3 but the quality is still there and I expect the returns to come back.  still an essential in my mind.

Ba – £8.2m  form  HOLD

Even though its likely it will be Torres turn to play home to Wigan I would probably keep Ba for one more week due to this fixture unless you want to fit Suarez in.  Then sell before the City away game.  Just too much rotation.

Suarez – £10.8m DGW 26 Quality BUY

Only the Arsenal game where he played on the left has made me nervous about the Suarez and Sturridge role.  Otherwise there’s been enough swapping of positions and central positioning to keep me happy.  He is also the leader in overall and last 6 shooting stats and chances created so its not affecting that.  Has scored twice in the last 4 games since Sturridge has arrived.

Giroud £8.0m value fixtures BUY

4th in the overall and 3rd in the last 6 shooting stats plus appearing 3 times in the current top 10 shooting stats.  3 goals and an assist in his last 4.  The only questions are do you have 2 Arsenal attacking assets as Walcott also looks essential or can you drop walcott for Giroud.  I prefer to have only 1 attacking asset from a team unless the fixtures are very compelling.  Arsenals aren’t quite at that level and for that reason I would personally will hold off but he is a BUY if you can live with these cavaeats

Fletcher £7.2m SELL

The fantastic fixtures have finished and Graham may  dilute his chances

Aguero £10.9m Quality BUY

Total and utter quality.  6th in the overall shooting stats and 6th in the last 6.  Fixtures could be better but he will be the striker of choice and with no European games and with Utd to chase it seems likely he will play virtually all games.
