Here’s the GW5 fantasy premier league “ones to watch”. This is a menu of fantasy premier league players to pick from for your team with factors stating why. (values as at Thursday 20/9)
I’ve also put the removals in strikethrough to show you who has come off from last week. The new fantasy premier league players and reasons why are added in italics to make it easier to follow. Below each position if applicable is a “bubbling under” category for monitoring certain fantasy premier league players before they are added to the “ones to watch” list. Remember these are fantasy premier league players in would have in my team. At the bottom is a key if you want a bit more detail on the factors listed
GOALKEEPER
Hart – £7.0m quality defence will come right. Fixtures come right after Arsenal
Foster – £5.1m quality. CS. Should be clean sheets and save points here. Good fixtures incl home to RDG next
£4.5m ish budget with game time security
Ruddy
Jaaskelainen
Davis
Begovic
Bubbling under
Guzan – £4.5m can anybody be first choice with Lambert in charge. Seems to have nailed it but that’s just when you end up on the bench in Lambert world
McCarthy – £4.0m Reading. Will be interesting to see if he holds his place. Has pedigree
Mannone -£4.5m Arsenal. 3rd choice keeper in first place due to injury. cant see him holding his place. this weekend i expect him to lose it
DEFENCE
Rafael – £5.6m – value. attack
Ivanovic – £6.9m attack value. Fixtures are getting worse though. Jury still out on Chelsea defence but hold for now
Jagielka – £6.1m fixtures. If youve got the cash for Baines you’ll get the returns
Hangeland £5.0m – value fixtures sleeping giant
Ridgewell – £5.0m fixtures. attack.
Jenkinson – £4.8m value. Plus better defence from Arsenal. Difficult fixtures and should lose position when Sagna back but good until then. Don’t buy but don’t sell until Sagna effect realised
Gibbs – £5.5m CS. The best certain game time value in the Arsenal defence. Hold off until after City A and Chelsea H
McAuley – £5.2m – fixtures. Attack. Probably the most secure game time wise with Popov joining as competition for Ridgewell
Budget £4.0m ish
Clyne – Saints attack
Fonte – saints
Demel – £4.1m west ham
Gorkks – £3.9m Reading
Bubbling under
Johnson – £6.4m. Good attacking stats. Fixtures improving after United at Home. Need to monitor whether Rodgers has improved the defence
MIDFIELD
Hazard – £10.3m – Quality. form.
Bale – £9.3m – Quality. fixtures.
Kagawa – £8.6m – Quality.
Lampard – £8.9m – Quality. Never write him off, even in 4-2-3-1 11 goals last year. pens
Michu – £7.4m – fixtures. form. (15 la liga goals last season)
Pienaar – £6.6m – fixtures. form
Fellaini – £6.9m form. fixtures. played in an advanced position again. Good underlying stats too
Nolan – £6.1m some really good fixtures. Bit dearer than I’d like but plays in such an advanced position you would think he will score
Morrison – £6.0m fixtures. form. The best of the WBA midfielders with a goal threat. Most advanced position wise as well.
Cazorla – £9.2m quality. form. Most advanced midfielder for Arsenal. Saints H next but City A and Chelsea H after that mean may be best to wait.
Lallana – £6.0m – fixtures have improved. Good underlying stats
Gervinho – £7.3m – form. fixtures improve after City A and Chelsea H
Budget £4.5m ish
Guthrie – £4.4m Reading – best choice with Kacaniklic
Britton – £4.4m Swansea – monitor as place under threat from Yueng
Whitehead – £4.5m Stoke YC risk
Cattermole – £4.5m Sunderland YC risk
Schneiderlin – £4.5m Saints
Sterling – £4.5m a risk with Assaidi being purchased but with form shown maybe worth it
Kacaniklic – £4.6m 2 assists last week should secure his place above Richardson. Best choice with Guthrie
El Ahmadi – £4.5m.
Puncheon – £4.4m. game time risk with Do Prado but seems to have held his place
Bubbling under
Nasri – £8.6m injured
Sigurdsson – £8.6m form. fixtures. Fantastic game against Reading. Just need to see the Dempsey effect
Snodgrass. – £5.9m – form. good underlying stats. Hopeless fixtures that will take sometime to improve
Ben Arfa. – £7.7m Quality. form. I would wait for fixtures to improve but go for home to Norwich if youre a big fan
FORWARDS
Tevez £9.9m – quality. form.
RVP – £13.5m – QUALITY. Rotation is the main risk
Adebayor -£9.6m fixtures
Jelavic – £8.5m – fixtures quality. monitor injury
Berbatov – £7.1m quality. fixtures.form.
Lambert – £6.0m form. value
Defoe – £7.6m – fixtures. Form. quality I wouldn’t have seen him as a lone striker but showed real quality against Reading. Adebayor injury and form will see him start.
Ba – £7.7m form. fixtures aren’t great but Norwich at home may tempt you. Has the ability to score against any opposition. Just monitor the noise with the club to ensure no game time risk
Podolski. – £8.5m Form. quality. I would wait until City A and Chelsea H are over but no doubting his form
I’m not putting a budget section for strikers. I just think the position is too important and theres too much quality to put a filler in. However Pogrebnyak at £4.9m is the best option if you really must.
Bubbling under
Suarez – £9.4m if he could shoot he would be lethal. Needs more monitoring and better fixtures
Lukaku – £6.5m Watch him to see if he can get starts. He is some player. Fixtures are good just needs a chance
Aguero – £11.0m. QUALITY fixtures improving just monitor starts and role
Odemwingie
