Rob Reid’s 2nd draft Team

Hi folks – hope you are all well.

Here’s my second draft and a few thoughts after reviewing my first draft team. This is a lot closer to what I think my starting team will be. I’m set on a strategy of a playing my 12th Man Chip in Round 2 and my Wildcard in R3. I’ll then use the other 3 chips in the knockouts, probably saving the Maximum Captain Chip for the semi-finals or final.

I’m fairly comfortable with a fair number of the picks now. I’m pretty settled on my front 3 and the Germany triple-up. Having funds invested here makes it easy to bring Brazil and France players in for R2. I’m also settled on Bruno Fernandes and Luis Diaz in midfield, potentially explosive midfield options with multiple routes to points. Cucurella in defence is a bit of an EO defence so I cover Spain for a good clean sheet fixture, while at the same time getting some attacking threat.

The picks I’m not quite settled on are the rest. I’d like to go with 3 low ownership defenders and 2 low ownership keepers to try and grab the chance of Scouting Bonus. I feel that defenders are probably the best picks to go for this one – pick a player with a good chance of a clean sheet and if you hit it, then you’re there. The 5th midfield spot is up for grabs too. I’m on Valverde at the moment as again he gets several routes to points and has a good fixture but there are other options that I like here too. I’ve also covered a fair number of days of the round for Captaincy switching but I’m light on June 12th and 13th so I’d be quite keen to get at least 1 Switzerland pick in there for example. I’m going to mull this over and make a final call on Thursday afternoon.
