Introduction

It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends. However the FFGeek team and the Contributor tracker team mentioned above on the FFGeek Patreon site all make transfers as articles are posted. So you’re always up to date and live

GW8 review:

Second disappointing week in a row. Greenwood decided to score just when I replace him but at least his total score was just 1 point higher than his replacement (Foden). I was quite gutted to see 2 Wolves defenders score and none of them being Marcal or Semedo. The Wolves double defence turns out to be my worst move so far this season (although I still think it was reasonable when I did it) and needs to be sorted rather sooner than later.

GW9 preview:

My move this week was supposed to be easy – Ronaldo to Lukaku (c). But the latter suffered an injury which should keep him out for a few weeks so now I have to find an alternative route.

For me, the possible replacements to Ronaldo are: Vardy, Auba, and Toney. If I owned Lukaku I would probably go for Toney and use the funds elsewhere, but as my departing player is a fit Ronaldo, even though he faces Liverpool, replacing him with Toney just feels wrong. It could be easier if I used the spare funds right away but that would involve a hit and I usually prefer not to take one unless I am forced to.

For the record, the reason I don’t go for Vardy or Auba is that I believe I will want to transfer them out pretty soon and I don’t want to commit to another transfer (already having a few other problems waiting to be fixed). If your team is properly settled you can probably punt on one of them.

Transfers:

My team doesn’t look too bad for this GW and I have 2 decent bench players in case of one or two no shows. So I will probably save the transfer and have more flexibility for next week.

For what it’s worth, if I had the funds to replace Jota with Havertz I would probably go for it.

Captain:

Now when I don’t own Lukaku I am going with Salah, who might have anyway been the best captain this week. Man Utd are a big team on paper but its defence is just horrible this season. I expect Salah to get a satisfactory number of good opportunities.

Shortlist:

This section is a new one I decided to add. It includes all players I don’t currently own but consider a potential buy in the near future. I intend to update the list on a weekly basis and elaborate on certain players whenever they become an immediate target of mine, or upon request from you guys. So feel free to reach out on Twitter with your deliberations.

Defence – Dias, Cancelo, R. James, Chilwell.

Midfield – Havertz, Son, Mbeumo, KDB.

Forwards – Vardy, Toney, Aubameyang, Kane, Iheanacho 👀
