GW2 Review

Oh god. If last week I said that my last minute transfer before the GW1 deadline had cost me 10 points, now the damage has gone up to 29 points. That’s it, I had to complain a bit and now promise to stop keeping track or mention it again 😀

Anyway, Robertson who was supposed to be the safe pick has been very disappointing (points wise at least) and keeps my mind busy this week. Digne was always a punt but I didn’t expect such a disaster. As to Mount and Bailey, I would happily get rid of them too. So will have to decide my priorities before the weekend. And it’s not going to be easy.

GW3 Preview

I actually have a lot of alternatives now with my 2 FT. I may make one transfer, two, or even take a hit for a triple change. The weakest links in my team are, as mentioned, Digne, Mount, and Bailey. Most urgent transfer is Digne obviously, who’s been devastating. He will definitely go out.

The players on my radar are:

Defence: Cucurella, Perisic, James, Walker.

Midfield: Kulusevski, Diaz. I would also include Foden and Gundogan if I were sure of their Xmins, And Maddison if his fixtures were more appealing.

So the perfect replacement to Digne would be James, but I don’t have the funds and the same goes for Perisic (whose Xmins status is not clear as well). So the debate is between Cucu and Walker and as good as City’s defence is, I just like it more to go for the higher ceiling pick. So Cucurella it is.

Now I just need to decide what else to do, if at all.

Rolling the FT to next week is a fine option. Would allow me to make a double transfer with more info and my team looks decent for this week after the Cucurella transfer.

Kulusevski is a player I really want in my side but the price change blocks me off of it currently. Diaz should also be an excellent pick especially now when Darwin is out. He was so much more threatening after Darwin was sent off. However I can’t bring him in as long as Robbo takes my third Liverpool slot, and I don’t think it’s worth to take a hit for that when Mount has a very good fixture vs Leeds.

The last alternative is using the other FT to bring James in place of Robbo. It feels right on the one hand but then again, I expect Robbo to beat James in terms of points throughout the season. So I’m just u sure whether it’s worth it or not. The Kante injury also hurts James’s prospect a bit.

Team Selection

Bailey was benched on the last match and Villa won so it’s very likely Lampard will start the same players. Now it’s between Neco and Andreas and I slightly prefer Neco for both his defensive and attacking potential. Also, Andreas is yellow flagged currently so I will have to monitor any news on the matter as well.

Captaincy

One of the hardest captaincy decisions I remember. Salah, Jesus, and Haaland are all appropriate picks (and Son/Kane as well but I don’t own them). I am currently on Salah because of the Man Utd terrible shape (and for Salah being the best in the league 😄), but I am also very tempted by Haaland. Jesus is the last on my list currently but it’s all so close and I’ll decide by gut feeling closer to the deadline.

Transfer Summary

I will definitely do Digne to Cucurella.

Not certain about the other move

Avishek Majumdar

Avishek’s last 5 seasons ORs were 62k, 32k, 13k, 45k and 64k

GW2 points: 67 (15 Top managers average 69) Total points: 145, Overall Rank: 446k, Red arrow: 60k   Team Value: £100.2m

Assuming no reliable early team news suggesting Perisic starts, I think I am going to do Trippier + Neto to Walker/Cucurella + Gross. I guess I am ok with giving Robertson another chance (assuming no concerns about his hand injury in the pressers) and for now ok with losing out some team value on Bailey. I

f the big guns at the back fail to deliver in the next 2 weeks, I will then consider downgrading one of them to boost my attack with either Diaz or Toney or whoever emerges then.

Kinda settled on this for now. 😄

Transfer summary: Trippier + Neto to Walker/Cucurella + Gross likely

GW2 – better than GW1 on paper?

Overall, yes with 6/11 returners for a total of 73 points, but there was a lot riding on the final match of the gameweek. A Luis Diaz goal with a blank for Salah was a strong result for my team, but a return or two for the latter would have represented a disaster after a blank for Son plus the double Liverpool clean sheet wipeout. Therefore, I’m feeling pretty content with my position at this early stage despite a poor GW1.

Two transfers to use, what’s the plan?

I am feeling good about my current squad structure and am very comfortable with continuing to select five premium defenders due to having a lot of faith in their value. Similar to the planner team, the key question is what to do about Salah and I have come to a similar conclusion that he is certainly required for GW4. However, after watching the Man Utd performance on Saturday evening, I am prepared to go one step further and bring the Egyptian in for this week and actually give him the armband. Son and Salah are very close in projected points this week (7.0 vs 6.8) so I am backing what I’ve seen to make a difference.
