EST HAM LOSE FRIENDLY IN AUSTRIA – FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE LEARNINGS?

Preseason

The first article following pre-season games to find out who’s in form, how the teams will line up and what fantasy premier league bargains are out there.  We will follow the newly promoted teams closely as there is less of a knowledge base from previous fantasy premier league seasons.

West Ham played the first pre-season game of any note on Monday losing to the most successful Austrian Club of all time, apparently, although last season they finished 4th.

Here was our fantasy premier league pre-season summary of how expected them to line up

FFGEEK PRE-SEASON VIEW

WEST HAM

OUT

none

PREDICTED LINEUP 4-4-2

Jaaskelainen – Reid Tomkins McCartney O’ Brien -Diame Collison Noble Nolan – Vaz Te Cole

Probably only one place up for grabs in the defence between Guy and Joey O’Brien at the moment.  Midfield will be hard to pick and Vaz Te seems the only certainty up front.

GAME DETAILS

It was the literal friendly game of 2 halves with West Ham lining up as follows:

1st half –  Henderson, Spence, Tomkins, Reid, Potts, Taylor, Diame, Morrison, Lletget, Cole, Baldock

2nd half – Jaaskelainen, Lletget, Spence, Potts, McCartney, Morrison, Noble, Nolan, O’Neil, Maynard, Vaz Te

West Ham lost 3-1 despite taking the lead early in the game from young striker Sam Baldock.  They were 2-1 down at half time.  The 2nd half saw a come back in terms of possession but it didn’t translate in to goals

LEARNINGS

Very little unfortunately.  Young striker Sam Baldock scoring cant have done him any harm.  He had a pretty reasonable record last year.  10 starts plus 13 at sub with 5 goals scored.  That translates to an event every 222 games which is ok but doesn’t scream fantasy premier league quality

4 players played both halves.  None look like a fantasy premier league first team threat at the moment but worth monitoring

Jordan  Spence – Defender 2 starts last year.  22 years old
Daniel Potts – Defender 3 starts last year.  18 years old
Ravel Morrison – Midfileder 1 games as sub last year, much to the home crowds dismay.  19 years old
Lletget – Couldnt find any details
In summary no change to predicted lineup in fantasy premier league pre-season article
