Here I’ve taken the best defender fixture schedule for the first 3 match days and then picked out defenders from the top 14 teams of that schedule.
I’ve concentrated on value and gametime security rather than attacking stats. I’ve taken into account some predicted lineups and their presence in the friendlies as I write this
The fixture schedule
This shows the clean sheet odds for each team for £1 invested. Those under £2.00 I’ve highlighted in green.
This is the order that I have put the players in the further schedule below
The player rankings
Here I’ve picked what I think is the best player from each of the top 14 countries in the schedule above. The concentration is on gametime security and value. There’s notes on a couple of players below.
I’ve put together their career attacking stats as International players including their goals/assists per minute. Their club stats are in all competitions for the 20/21 season just gone
Notes on a few players
With Spain going through some Covid issues there has to be some doubt around Pau Torres starting and although there is one more friendly it seems this will be an under 21 side. Hard to say what’s going to happen unless we get more information. Interestingly there is a parallel bubble of players now established which I is for potential replacements.
Wijindal isn’t complete nailed as a pic. He’s played both friendlies but could be reliant on them playing a back 5 as Blind could play LB in a back 4. However it’s a big price step up to De Ligt at £5.5m if you want to have security
It’s worth noting that it seems Rodriguez of Switzerland will be on penalties
