Introduction

This is my 4th and final draft unless there are changes bought on by the Italy lineup

Here’s my previous draft

Remember I’m using the limitless chip Matchday 2 and the wildcard matchday 3 and just hoping for the best on Round of 16 to quarters. You can see the chip rules in the rules link above.

It means my opening team is only concerned with Matchday 1

I will post a very quick final team after the Italy/Turkey team sheet is announced

Remember you can substitute players over the days of the matchday. That’s why Ronaldo and Jota are on the bench

So what changes have I made from the last draft?

GK Cekir Turkey £4.5m to £GK Marshall Scotland £4.5m

This improved the clean sheet odds from £5.00 to £2.75 as Scotland play the Czechs whereas Turkey play Italy

I would have liked to go with Bachmann who’s the £4.5m Austria GK but I’ve already got 3 Austrian players and that really was it with the £4.5m GKs which is where I was financially

Def Bednarek Poland £4.5m to £GK Elvedi Switzerland £4.5m

This worsened the clean sheet odds from £2.05 to £2.15 as Poland play Slovakia whereas Switzerland play Wales

Bednarek missed the last friendly and there even seems some inconsistency as to whether he even came on as sub but it seemed that he was carrying some sort of injury. It appears he isn’t now but the info is so sparse that I’m not taking a chance. My budget remains at £4.5m and I was going to go to another Polish defender at £4.5m by the name of Kedziora who started both friendly games at RB but he wasn’t expected to be the favoured RB so I thought I’d give that a miss

Maehle of Denmark in a double up was also on my mind but he didn’t play the last friendly and also some of the Nations League although that may have been an injury.

So in the end I settled with what I saw as the next affordable best in Elvedi of Switzerkland

So no Italian defender

I did come into today thinking that I would sacrifice one of Ferran Torres of Spain or Jota of Portugal to upgrade to an Italian defender but the alternatives didn’t excite me. I could have gone Zielinski of Poland but I felt I already had enough eggs in that basket with Lewandoski so I stuck with both of them

What can change when the Italy lineup comes out?

I think only 1 of Chiesa or Berardi will play and I will have either of them in my team and as captain. Berardi is only £6m so he would allow me to upgrade Elvedi to Bonucci.
