Here’s our the updated version of our regular feature where we analyse the teams of 10 top FPL managers who in the last 3 seasons where none have finished outside the top 10k. A good week for the top 10 managers with Walcott and Holebas helping the numbers. We’ve added the managers scores, updated the “celebrity” managers team and looked at the teams of the highest and lowest ranked managers. The additional wording is in italics to make it easier to read. The top 10 Managers have played 30 times in the last 3 years and none have finished outside the top 10k in that time. Considering how variable the last 3 years have been this is remarkable consistency and shows an ability to adapt strategy in different seasons. It also gives you a view other than my own on strategy and player selection.

2. The top 10 FPL managers have not been out of the top 10k in the last 3 years (ie 30 times playing)
3. 9 of the 10 have finished in the top 1,000

A good week for the top 10 FPL managers. 7 of the 10 had green arrows.
The average score of the managers in GW8 was 53 compared to the average of 39. Thats 36% above the average score. The high score of the 10 was 74. The low score was 33. Another exceptionally high spread of 41.
The average overall rank of the top 10 FPL managers is 304k compared to GW7 of 337k. An improvement in rank of 33k. The best rank is 10k and the lowest 1.38m
The average value is high at £102.5 up from £102.4m in GW7
If you’re interested my score was 62. A decent score after 3 low ones and higher than 8 of the managers. 23 points better than the gameweek average. My overall rank of is now 169k up from 404k. I’m ahead of 4 of the top 10 managers. My team value is low though in comparison at £101.4 but a big improvement on last week at £101.6m. My total score is 420 points. The average top 10 manager score is 423.

Here’s a comparison with the how the top 10k overall rank average team looks like. The information is provided by the excellent site FPL discovery. Ranks given the early nature of the game are still very volatile so don’t read into it too much at the moment.
What it does show is that the top 10 fpl managers I follow have big differences (30% difference is the becnhmark) with the top 10k rank. Here are the main ones:

FOCUS ON 1 MANAGERS TEAM
Again we focus on the managers team who last season finished the highest of my then top 10 FPL managers ending up in 1400th position. This manager is the closest thing to a fantasy football celebrity there is due to his consistent results so we’ll keep an eye on him. At present he is in 56k position with 440 points after a score of 48 this gameweek. His transfers in were Mustafi and Walcott.
