Matchday 28 Review – 75 points; Gameweek Rank 23,155

Here’s the points:

Fantasy Bundesliga Matchday 29

After 2 tons in my first 2 weeks, it’s down to earth with a bit of a bump after a fairly poor midweek Matchday in OBFM. The big winners this week were Kimmich, Kostic and Baumgartner owners with the other big names such as Werner, Lewandowski, Hakimi and co. all registering low scores. I did have some smaller returns from Kainz and Framberger but sadly I’d put my Stars elsewhere though I did Star Nkunku who at least rewarded me with an assist.

I thought this would be a tough one looking at the fixture set and so it proved and of course there was considerable rotation with the games coming so quickly after the weekend. I’m concerned as well that this might affect this week’s line-up and I’m keeping an eye on this as a precursor to how EPL teams might do the same thing when things restart later in June.

Let’s have a look at OBFM Matchday 29.

Likely transfers

This looks a more favourable Matchday to me with games spread across 6 time slots this time and the bigger teams separated across them. Rather annoyingly for me though, it starts on a Friday again – this makes things trickier for me personally as I’m working so I’m going to have to gamble on doing my transfers on Thursday night and won’t get to see much team news.

One thing I do know though is that I need Borussia Dortmund cover again either in midfield or up front and it looks likely that Haaland (who I was going to bring straight back this week) is out with a knee injury. Therefore that’s pretty much made up my mind on transfer 1 which is to bring Hazard in instead – he comes in for Niederlechner. I need to fund this and the player going for me is Gnabry, who hasn’t produced enough over the last 3 weeks for my liking. This is a bit risky, selling him prior to a game against a lower team but with other options across the weekend for the Stars, it’s a risk I’m comfortable with especially with Bayern away to Bayer Levekusen next weekend.

I do however want 2 Bayern players so I’ve shifted some of the funds into defence this week and brought in Pavard for Trimmel. I would have loved Kimmich but he’s so expensive on my low late start budget. I’m hoping however to move the funds into defence towards getting him and I’ve got a good history with Pavard after he served me well in World Cup Fantasy Football back in 2018 – fond memories of that last 16 goal against Argentina! That leaves me 9.5m to spend on my Gnabry replacement and I’ve brought in Baumgartner from Hoffenheim, the hero of MD28. It does feel a bit like the proverbial horse and stable door, but it has a big advantage of opening up an alternative star option in the Saturday 230pm fixtures where I wouldn’t have otherwise had a midfielder playing.

Likely star men

Onto my Star plan and I think I’ve got things pretty well spread out here. I’ve got Havertz and Gulde on the Friday night fixture, Baumgartner and Framberger on Saturday at 230pm; the Bayern boys at 530pm; the Dortmund boys on Sunday at 5pm then both Leipzig and Koln options on Monday evening. Not a bad spread really. I even have my keepers in 2 different timeslots for a bit of rotation too, though my second one is away to Bayern.

So hopefully I’ll do a bit better again this weekend! Good luck to everyone who’s playing and I’ll be back again next week with another update!

Summary:

transfers: Gnabry, Niederlechner and Trimmel OUT.  Hazard, Baumgartner and Pavard IN.
