Fantasy Football The Sun World Cup 2014

overview

You can find this at www.dreamteamfc.com

If you play the Sun’s Dream Team for the premier league then there will be little surprises here.  A similar, very easy to play format with a £150k prize pool. You can enter multiple teams at cost.  Can only be played by UK residents unfortunately.

You only pick 11 players and there are no substitutions.  There are 3 formations, in 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-5-1.

There are 3 basic ways to score as per the premier league dream team format. That is through goals, clean sheets and MOTM/ 7 + Sun ratings.  No assists.  No captain points.  Interestingly the points rating become far more weighted towards goals and clean sheets in the knock out stages.

The transfer situation sees unlimited up to the first match.  Between the group and the knockout stages you can make 4 changes.  Before the quarters you can make another 4 changes but thats it.  That means you have the ability to change 8 of your original 11 players.  In addition, there is one further transfer available that you are advised at some yet to be decided time during the tournament.

FFGeek views

A straightforward format that apart from the additional transfer doesn’t require constant monitoring once you’ve set your initial team. If you’re familar with the Sun premier league format then there will be few surprises.  The lack of substitiutions and transfers means you are subject to the vaguries of injuries and teams getting through to the knockout stages.

It also means you’ve got to think long and hard about which teams you pick players from as you only can make 8 changes to your original team to cover the whole tournament.

I’ve entered a team into this format and have set up a league.  If you were in my Sun Dream Team BPL league then you should have got an e mail inviting you in.  If not the league is called fantasyfootballgeek and the PIN is 8043163
