Introduction

This article consists of a schedule ranking forwards based on their underlying stats over the first 8 games of the season. xG90 and xA90 are converted to FPL attacking points adjusted by their average minutes played. I have adjusted a couple of average minutes where they are not representative at all of going forward

There’s also their FPL points per match as well as their value for money rating. The higher the better. Above 10 is the gold standard

The rankings are purely mathematical and there is no adjustment for fixtures coming up. The attacking players fixture ease schedule is below

Their is a new stat based on the performances in each individual gameweek where they are rated good orbad in relation to their cost. The column “x Consist %” states the % of times in relation to their starts they were rated good in the first 6 gameweeks. Prices are as of 21 October.

The ranking schedule

As I said above the rankings are based on their 21/22 xG90 and xA90 converted to FPL attacking points adjusted by their average minutes played. There is no adjustment for fixtures upcoming

As it’s only 8 games data the rankings will be pretty volatile.

Fantasy Football Tips 2021

A couple of notes

Firmino is last seasons stats as there’s not enough info to assess this season.

I haven’t tried to assess Broja on 1 game but he was very good if that helps

No Lukaku or Werner due to injury

No Benteke or Hwang as I’m a little concerned on gametime going forward

No Iheanacho as I’d like more games before assessing. He’s someway off last season

Transfer suggestions for GW9

Ideally you want a good entry point, a VFM of 10 and good fixtures going forward. That’s a tricky combination and this week I’m looking at 2 transfer suggestions only

Vardy

Great start to the season with 7 goals and an assist returning a goal or assist in 6 of those 8 games and in all of the last 4. Could be slightly better and more consistent on the underlying stats but he can overperform as he’s shown in the past but at least they haven’t been passed by penalties so far. The fixtures are a bit mixed and the entry point tricky as Brentford showed in keeping Chelsea to 5 shots.

So not perfection but a pretty good option as a replacement for Lukaku

Toney

Played 90 mins in all 8 games for 2 goals and 2 assists 1 of which was a penalty. Returned a goal or assist in only 3 of those games although his underlying stats consistency is better at 4 of 8 games.

Has proved value for money and has great fixtures ahead starting with the stuttering Leicester defence.

His major flaw at the moment is a pretty appalling xG90 and volumes that are fairly poor as well. Like Jimenez for example though he does have an ability to create chances for others which has helped him out so far this season

A leap of faith on fixtures and that he can improve his shooting stats while maintaining the creative side

Fixture punt

Arsenal have Villa, Leicester, Watford and Newcastle in 4 of their next 5 and while Aubameyang has hardly pulled up any trees if fixtures are your main focus then you may want to punt on him. It’s bit rich for my blood.
