Introduction
This article consists of a schedule ranking midfielders based on their underlying stats over the first 6 games of the season. xG90 and xA90 are converted to FPL attacking points adjusted by their average minutes played.
There’s also their FPL points per match as well as their value for money rating. The higher the better. Above 10 is the gold standard
The rankings are purely mathematical and there is no adjustment for fixtures coming up. The attacking players fixture ease schedule is below
Their is a new stat based on the performances in each individual gameweek where they are rated good orbad in relation to their cost. The column “x Consist %” states the % of times in relation to their starts they were rated good in the first 6 gameweeks. I haven’t calculated some and they are “navail”. Prices are as of 14 October.
The ranking schedule
As I said above the rankings are based on their xG90 and xA90 converted to FPL attacking points adjusted by their average minutes played. There is no adjustment for fixtures upcoming
As it’s only 7 games data the rankings will be pretty volatile.
Transfer suggestions for GW8
Ideally I’m looking for players that have a good entry point fixture as well as a good overall fixture ranking in the upcoming 6 gameweeks plus represent overall value for money and consistency of performances. The suggestions are not in any particular order
Salah
A huge captain favourite this week and the stats speak for themselves so I won’t boreyou with more superlatives unnecessarily
Gallagher
2 goals and 3 assists and returning either of those in 3 of his 6 starts is pretty impressive. As is his ability to get on the end of attacks in the box. The fixtures are definitely mixed and away to Arsenal isn’t the greatest entry point but at the moment he’s proving great value
Jota
Apparently fit for this week which is a big bonus v Watford. Whether he will start given that Firmino has been nicely rested and Jota had an injury scare over the IB remains to be seen. However this is a guy playing at a level close to Mane and Salah as a CF in a front 3 for £7.6m. That’s some attraction
I do think the fact that he started over Firmino in the game v Man City was a big statement but he was subbed in the 67th minute and that could be an ongoing negative pattern. Just 3 goals and no assist so far this season but there’s potential for so much more
Mbeumo
A poor entry point with Chelsea next but after that the fixtures are very good and playing as a strike partner to Toney he’s been consistent with his underlying stats if not with his finishing as we’ve only seen 2 goals coming from it.
Grealish
One to go into with your eyes open. City have 3 pretty good fixtures next but who knows who will start in those games. Grealish has played the most minutes and offers something different to the team.
Hasn’t set the world alight with 1 goal and 1 assist in 7 starts that’s for sure and his underlying stats are worse than his Villa ones on less average minutes which isn’t helpful.
However this is a fixture roll of the dice with a perfect entry point of Burnley without Ben Mee and possibly Charlie Taylor. The score could be anything
