Introduction

It’s worth noting that the teams shown may not necessarily end up being the final teams or the transfers may have been made in the days prior to the posting . It’s an informal situation to give you an idea of trends.

However the FFGeek team, the Transfer Planner Team and the Contributor Tracker team Plus the Contributor teams of Rob, Rick, Andrew, Kris, Kev and Joe mentioned above on the FFGeek Patreon site all make notified transfers live as they are completed. So you’re always up to date and live for a maximum £3 PCM.

The reference to 19 top managers is from the article where I follow 19 top FPL managers who have finished in the top 10k overall rank the last 3 seasons

My transfers for this gameweek depend on Salah’s fitness really.

I have the exact cash for Solanke OUT to Darwin IN so that’ll probably be the move if Salah is fit.

If Salah isn’t fit then the transfers are likely to be Salah OUT to, De Bruyne IN and Solanke OUT to Darwin IN and Tsimikas OUT to Van Dijk IN

Transfer summary:  To be determined as above

Here’s the team prior to any transfers taking place

Rick Porter

Rick’s last 7 seasons ORs were 12k, 38k, 1k, 29k, 1k, 30k and 2k.

GW23 points: 86 -4 (19 Top managers average 76) Total points: 1,384 Overall Rank: 146k, green arrow: 49k   Team Value: £104.3m

Happy to say that it was an excellent week. It’s not very often you take a -4 and get the captain pick wrong but still knock 25% off your rank, but here we are – a green arrow of 49k, which is far more than I’d hoped for. Overall I’m very happy, and while I could dwell on what-could-have-been had I only captained Watkins or Foden instead of Haaland, I equally could have easily removed Watkins instead of Solanke this week. That would have been devastating considering his ownership, so I’ll take my points and run with zero regrets.

Doubles and Blanks

We’re now entering the doubles/blanks period of the season. It’s a time when those who plan a bit more carefully often come out on top and improve rank. It’s not a guarantee, but at the very least planning ahead should minimise hits. It feels a little more unpredictable this year, though. There are several very high-ownership players and covering them all is very difficult. Right now I have De Bruyne and Solanke poised to do serious damage to my rank, both with 70% EOs.

I could get De Bruyne for Saka, but that just means I’m missing a different 70% EO player. Plus I’d have to drop a different City player, all of which have proven haul potential. There’s no easy solution, just tough choices.

If Salah remains out then Jota and Darwin will both be big threats soon too, as the double in GW25 makes them very attractive.

All the planning in the world won’t help if one of these non-owned players starts banging in hat tricks, so covering the biggest threats who have doubles is probably the best tactic, even if it means the odd hit.

The ideal outcome for me would be….

GW23 review

The story for my team in GW23 revolves around two hattricks in a week of highs and lows for many FPL managers.

It was a rough start to the gameweek as the Richarlison haul plus returns for Trippier and Gordon left me sitting 13 points below average and staring at a likely red arrow for the gameweek. However, my decision to go against the crowd by captaining Watkins was fortunately rewarded with a hattrick of assists which put me slightly ahead of the pack. I remained there through a busy Sunday leaving the fate of my gameweek riding on the Monday night game where there were some big ownerships in play. Luckily for me, my lowest owned player in Foden returned a hattrick of his own which provided a significant boost and gave me a decent green arrow as the final result.
