fantasy football world cup semi finals day 2 – the FFGeek team changes
Days and times in UK time for the quarter finals:
7.00 PM Wednesday, July 11 England v Croatia
At the risk of stating the obvious the final will be between the winners of tonights game and France and the 3rd/4th place playoff between the Belgium and the losers of tonights match.
McDonalds
Total points 275. Overall rank 28k. No Wildcard or Maximum captain used
A poor day saw a 5k deterioration in rank.
Lukaku and De Bruyne were big disappointments
Knockout phase changes
You need to make your captain changes and substitutions before the first kick off of 7pm UK time Tuesday 10 July
Make sure you make the changes in the semi final tab. It defaults to the final so it’s easy to make them in the wrong area especially on the desk top version
No subs so no changes. Captain will be Kane although I will probably use the maximum captain chip
I will, at least, tweet around 6pm on Wednesday when those lineups are out in the very unlikely event that anything changes. Here’s the team:
If you’re looking for stats on potential players for their clubs for today here are my key articles. Remember though they were done prior to the tournament so you need to see at least how much they played in the Group stages and the knockout phases before you pick anyone and also look at the probable lineups below
Sun Dream Team
Total points 313 Overall Rank 38k transfers used 20 out of 20
A poor night with a deterioration in rank of 1k. The Belgian contingent was poor and now I just have to hope that they play in the 3rd place play off
If you’re looking for stats on potential players for today here are my key articles with stats mainly for their clubs. Remember though they were done prior to the tournament so you need to see at the very least how much they played in the Group stages and the round of 16 and appear in the probable lineups below
Transfers
No transfers left so this is it now
Here’s the team with Tuesdays points showing
Telegraph fantasy football
The standard team: Total points 365 Overall Rank 12.3k transfers used 10 out of 20 for the remainder of the tournament
The Def Block team: Total points 387 Overall Rank 6.3k transfers used 15 out of 20 for the remainder of the tournament
the standard team
So a small improvement in rank of 3k to an OR of 12.3k
So at the moment I’m just replacing players as I go.
The 3 Belgian players are then replaced by Croatian players
Vertonghen out for Vida
Hazard out for Modric
Lukaku out for Mandzukic
I will at least tweet any transfers probably around 6pm UK time on Wednesday.
Here’s how the team looks with the 3 transfers unconfirmed:
the defensive block team
A small deterioration in rank of 1k to 6.3k
No transfers today are planned
I will at least tweet any transfers if I change my mind around 6pm Wednesday after the lineups are out
Here’s the team:

Probable lineups
Here’s the probable lineups, injuries and team news from whoscored for the semi final tonight
Croatia
Andrej Kramarić was surprisingly picked to start ahead of Marcelo Brozović against Russia on Saturday night but the latter could return to the starting XI here. This would enable Luka Modric to play further forward.
Dejan Lovren and Danijel Subasic both missed training at the start of the week but are expected to recover in time to face England. Croatia will, however, be without right-back Sime Vrsaljko, which means former Tottenham defender Vedran Corluka is expected to start.
England
Kyle Walker, Dele Alli and Ashely Young recovered from minor injuries to start against Sweden on Saturday but Jamie Vardy remains a doubt.
Gareth Southgate may consider Eric Dier or Fabian Delph to ease the pressure on Jordan Henderson but may feel no reason to make any changes against Croatia.
Jordan Henderson has a slightly hamstring injury but England are confident he will recover in time to feature.
That’s it, good luck for tonight’s semi.

It’s too late to join the telegraph league btw. I’m not sure what the rules are in joining the other leagues now but here’s the details anyway
