Fantasy premier league – “ones to watch” midfielders over £6.0m– GW27 (updated for GW28/29)

Fantasy Premier League, Player Rankings

Here’s the GW27 “ones to watch” for midfielders on the Barclays fantasy premier league over £6.0m.    This will give the best midfield players at a variety of price ranges using a range of stats to make my case.  I’ll do cheapie midfielders separately. I’ve updated the fixtures  after the original post for GW28/29 postponements and amended the order accordingly

Fantasy premier league – “ones to watch” midfielders over £6.0m – GW27

If you haven’t seen this before, I’ve provided the following stats to support the player choices and to guide you in your decisions.

1.  Goals and assists this year.

2.  Time per point scored this year.  This is how many minutes it takes for a Barclays fantasy premier league point to be scored over the course of this season. The lower the better obviously.

3.  Rotation risk.  High, medium or low.  High is the greatest risk of rotation.

4.  Fixture ease ranking:  The link is at the bottom of the article but essentially I’ve ranked all the teams by the ease of the first 6 fixtures.  The team with the best ranking ie 1 will have the easiest next fixtures of any of the fantasy premier league teams over the next 6 games.

5.  Consistency:  The % of times that the player got a goal or assist  as a % of games played

6.  I’ve also ranked them in their categories as who I think is currently the best choice

7.  Last 5 return consistency rate:   Its now time to take into account recent form so I look at the amount of times a player has returned in the last 5 games played

8.  I’ve also add a couple of  punts from time to time.  These are people not showing great form or consistency  who you may want to roll the dice with

9.  Ive also added how many players are in the top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow

Midfielders

1.  Lallana (£8.0m)

  • Goals and assists:  7 goals 8 assists.  Time per point scored:  15.4  mins .  Rotation risk: low   fixture ease ranking: 2nd.  Consistency 13/26  50%          Last 5 consistency return rate:  4/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 6

An inconsistent returner but has all the midfield fundamentals for fantasy premier league with an advanced central position.  Gets into the box and can create chances as well.  Doesn’t have any underlying stats but does rely on getting into good positions.  In great form at the moment though and good fixtures to come.  No blanks in GW28/29

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

West Ham (A)
Liverpool (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Norwich (H)
Tottenham (A)
Newcastle (H)

2.  Hazard (£10.9m)

  • Goals and assists:  12 goals 8 assists.  Time per point scored:   13.3  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 17th.  Consistency 12/25   48%  Last 5 return consistency:  1/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow:  10

The above stats are so typical of Hazard.  Only 1 return in the last 5 games but that was an amazing hat trick against Newcastle.  Has looked threatening in most games though so worth staying with.  When he does score he scores big which is why he’s the top fantasy premier league point scoring midfielder.  No blanks in GW28/29

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Everton (H)
Fulham (A)
Tottenham (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Arsenal (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

3.  Gerrard (£9.0m)

  • Goals and assists:  7 goals 10 assists.  Time per point scored:  15.0  mins .  Rotation risk: low  fixture ease ranking: 14th.  Consistency 14/22  64%          Last 5 consistency return rate:  4/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 1

Shows you can have a midfielder as a CDM  if he has set pieces and penalties.  Helped by Liverpool constantly getting behind teams with Sturridge Suarez and Sterling great foul targets for penalties.  Incredibly consistent and if you remove his first 5 games which were blanks the consistency return rate is 82%.  Mixed fixtures but that matters little for Liverpool who seem to be able to scopre against anyone.  Blank in GW29

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Swansea (H)
Southampton (A)
Gameweek 29
Man Utd (A)
Cardiff City (A)
Tottenham (H)

4.  Mirallas (£7.5m)

  • Goals and assists:  6 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored:  18.6  mins .  Rotation risk: low  fixture ease ranking: 1st.  Consistency 8/25  32%          Last 5 consistency return rate:  3/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 0

With Lukaku coming back and Naismith taking the central attacking role anyway it looks like Mirallas will be moving to the right flank again.  However looks the main threat in the team at the moment even if he is an inconsistent scorer.  Good fixtures after the Chelsea away game. Blank in GW29.

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Chelsea (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (A)
Cardiff City (H)
Swansea (H)
Fulham (A)

5.  Silva (£9.3m)

  • Goals and assists:  4 goals 8 assists.  Time per point scored:   15.2  mins .  Rotation risk: low.   fixture ease ranking: 7th.  Consistency 10/16   63%  Last 5 return consistency:  2/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow:  5

2 blanks in GW28/29 are the main reason for the fall.  Numbers have fallen off a little in recent weeks only returning in 2 out of last 5 games.  Still getting shots in and creating chances just been unlucky in my mind.  The heart beat and creative force of the City side.  Maybe more chance of rotation now though with fixtures piling up.  No fixture in GW28/29  but 2 in GW31 and a postponed game home to Sunderland still to be rescheduled

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Stoke City (H)
– Gameweek 28 –
Gameweek 29
Hull City (A)
Fulham (H)
Man Utd (A)
Arsenal (A)

6.  YaYa Toure (£10.2m)

  • Goals and assists:  12 goals 4 assists.  Time per point scored:  14.1  mins .  Rotation risk: low   fixture ease ranking: 7th.  Consistency 14/24  58%          Last 5 consistency return rate:  2/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow:  2

2 blanks in GW28/29 are the main reason for the fall.  YYT’s consistency speaks for itself. Has got a high percentage of his goals though from direct free kicks and penalties in Aguero’s absence.  GW27 is the last week that Aguero will be out of the side though so that should dry up. Milner and Fernandinho as CDMs aren’t defensively minded as say Demichelis meaning that YYT will be back to a sharing of defensive duties. Still good fixtures and consistency make him an option.

7.  Mata (£9.8m)

  • Goals and assists:  0 goals 5 assists.  Time per point scored:  22.0  mins .  Rotation risk: low  fixture ease ranking: 11th.  Consistency 5/17  29%          Last 5 consistency return rate:  3/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 6

Rated low due to the time at Chelsea.  Has got 3 assists in the 4 games in since joining United.  Moyes doesn’t seem sure where to play him but whereever he does he will drift into a central role on the left I expect.  Still early days and has alot to prove and the fixtures are mixed.  However only Silva has created more chances per minute this season and with Rooney (hopefully playing as a striker) and RVP as targets then expect the assists to flow.  Not really showed the goal scoring ability he had last year yet.  Blank in GW28

Next 6 fantasy premier league fixtures:

Crystal Palace (A)
– Gameweek 28 –
West Brom (A)
Liverpool (H)
West Ham (A)
Man City (H)
Aston Villa (H)

8.  Nolan (£6.7m)

  • Goals and assists:  6 goals 6 assists.  Time per point scored:   17.9 .  Rotation risk: low  fixture ease ranking: 5th.  Consistency 6/19  32%          Last 5 consistency return rate:  2/5   How many times in top 10 fantasy premier league managers I follow: 2

You can see from the stats that this isn’t about overall season. It’s 5 goals and 3 assists in hjis last 7 games. Its about recent form and the return of his partner in crime Andy Carroll in GW28.  Has very good shooting stats but its a matter of waiting for the returns to come as theyre not predictable to say the least.  Reasonable fixtures coming as well. No blanks in GW28/29
