Fantasy premier league best forwards – gameweek 8

Here’s our table os stats plus a key below for the new stats in the table.  If you haven’t seen the midfield articles then the reference to last years stats is gone now that we’ve had 7 games.  I’ve added the % of 10+ FPL point hauls which is a good feel for a players explosiveness.  I’ve also added in the last 4 games points as an indication of recent form.

Costa

Still rampaging on with 9 goals in his first 7 games.  Has yet to get an assist but it’s not for lack of creating chances.  Great underlying stats and probably the best overall underlying stats of anyone. Reasonably good fixtures as well.  Seems to have got over this hamstring issue (touch wood)

Crystal Palace (A)
Man Utd (A)
QPR (H)
Liverpool (A)
West Brom (H)
Sunderland (A)

Pelle

A goal for Italy midweek keeps up his good form.  Great fixtures, great underlying stats to add to his recent form.

Sunderland (H)
Stoke (H)
Hull (A)
Leicester (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Man City (H)

Aguero

How he hasn’t got a 10+ point haul is down solely to bad luck and a number of sub appearances.  Only Costa and Cisse have better points per minute returns.  In great form with reasonable fixtures to come although no one is safe from Aguero.  Rested for the 2nd International midweek as well which will help with the early Saturday start.  Seems to be getting to full fitness with some decent minutes in recent games including 2 90 minutes in the last 3.  The CSKA tie in Russia midweek is the unknown on his minutes although hard to see him not lining up against Spurs.  Will have pens.

Spurs (H)
West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H)
QPR (A)
Swansea (H)
Southampton (A)

Falcao

Scored a great goal midweek for Colombia which was ruled out.  Slowly starting to look fit and getting results although yet to get a big haul.  After WBA fixtures are very tough though.

West Brom (A)
Chelsea (H)
Man City (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal (A)
Hull (H)

Sturridge

Just coming back from injury so could start on the bench against QPR although he is good off the bench.  Very good fixtures and his ranking here is more about last year’s form and these fixtures  than this year’s form so far which has been fairly ordinary comapred to last year.  Has the quality though to turn it around

QPR (A)
Hull (H)
Newcastle (A)
Chelsea (H)
Crystal Palace (A)
Stoke (H)

Welbeck

Expected to be fit for the Hull game in GW8.  Has really only been convincing for Arsenal in 1 game against Villa and in the Champions League so this is about the fixtures, his price and the chances that will be created by the Arsenal midfield.  The underlying stats are pretty good which does help but it’s a bit of a leap of faith

Hull (H)
Sunderland (A)
Burnley (H)
Swansea (A)
Man Utd (H)
West Brom (A)

Cisse

You can’t argue with 4 goals in 3games.  Is this the Cisse that scored 13 goals after the January transfer window  in 11/12 at an FPL point every 10.5 minutes which is a top draw stat or the Cisse who scored 2 goals in the 90 minute equivalent of  15 games at an FPL point every 25 minutes.  There’s no way of knowing of course but it’s a great start and his confidence must be sky high.  If you’re going to gamble home to Leicester is the time to do it.

Leicester (H)
Spurs (A)
Liverpool (H)
West Brom (A)
QPR (H)
West Ham (A)

Ulloa

2 very quiet games against pretty ordinary defensive teams have cast a shadow over his excellent form against the very difficult fixtures earlier on.  No real  decent underlying stats to hang your hat on either.  You’re relying on the early form returning.  Some good fixtures but 4 away games

Newcastle (A)
Swansea (A)
West Brom (H)
Southampton (A)
Sunderland (H)
QPR (A)

Berahino

A great start to the season as he’s been given the central striking position with Brown injured.  Has pens

Man Utd (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Leicester (A)
Newcastle (H)
Chelsea (A)
Arsenal (H)

Dzeko

A goal against Belguim is against a pretty ordinary start to the season.  Has the ability it just requires patience for the roller coaster ride he generates. The return of Jovetic does create some uncertainty over his gametime.  However he is the more natural partner for Aguero.

Spurs (H)
West Ham (A)
Man Utd (H)
QPR (A)
Swansea (H)
Southampton (A)

Naismith

Another player who scored midweek in the Internationals.  His central position looks under threat though with the return of Barkley potentially for GW9.  Has been consistently ticking over the points and now has good fixtures.

Aston Villa (H)
Burnley (A)
Swansea (H)
Sunderland (A)
West Ham (H)
Spurs (A)
