FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE – ANALYSING THE OPENING 6 ROUNDS OF FIXTURES

Strategy

Below is the list of in order of the teams with the best fixtures in the opening 6 games of the fantasy premier league season.  I have used 6 as a rough rule of thumb of how far I think fantasy premier league managers should look forward.  In 6 games you would have had nearly a 50% chance of transferring the player out of your team.

I have ranked the fixtures based on defensive facts from last year including:

(i)    underlying shot stats

(ii)   goals conceded

(iii)  clean sheets

(iv)  form from late season fixtures.

I have then scored the fixtures  and ranked them accordingly.

The order from the fantasy premier league team with the best opening 6 fixtures at the top to worst at the bottom:

1   Swansea

2.  West Ham

3.  Aston Villa

4.  Tottenham

5.  Chelsea

6.  Sunderland

7.  Everton

8.  WBA

9.  Newcastle

10 Manchester United

11. Fulham

12. Wigan

13  Norwich

14 Manchester City

15 Reading

16  QPR

17  Arsenal

18  Stoke

19  Liverpool

20 Southampton

Also to factor in is the potential club where captain choice comes from.  That is based purely on the better attacking teams with the easiest fantasy premier league home fixture.  It should be viewed cautiously at this stage as players form could skew the results once the season starts.  You wouldn’t necessarily look at Fulhams fixtures as a fantasy premier league captain fixture for example but Dempsey was a viable captain choice last year

Round 1

Chelsea v Wigan H plus Reading away

Man City v Southampton

Round 2

Man Utd v Fulham

Tottenham v WBA

Round 3

Tottenham v Norwich

Man City v QPR

Round 4

Man Utd v Wigan

Arsenal v Southampton

Round 5

Tottenham v QPR

Chelsea v Stoke

Round 6

Everton V Southampton

Now lets re-issue the schedule with the number of captain mentions added to it and you will see the importance of having certain teams represented in fantasy premier league even if overall their fixtures aren’t that strong.  That should eventually sit well with your fantasy premier league  undroppables (RVP and Bale last year)

1   Swansea

2.  West Ham

3.  Aston Villa

4.  Tottenham  (3)

5.  Chelsea    (2)

6.  Sunderland

7.  Everton (1)

8.  WBA

9.  Newcastle

10 Manchester United  (2)

11. Fulham

12. Wigan

13  Norwich

14 Manchester City  (2)

15 Reading

16  QPR

17  Arsenal (1)

18  Stoke

19  Liverpool

20 Southampton

Here’s highlighting the top teams fixtures:

Swansea

Home matches against West Ham Sunderland and Everton give reasonable fantasy premier league goal prospects and clean sheets as do the away games of Villa and QPR.  Look to Danny Graham, Sinclair and Dyer

West Ham

Good Homes to Villa Fulham and Sunderland with good aways against Norwich and QPR.  Expect big Sam to be cautious however.  Possibly look to Vaz Te, Nolan and Noble

Aston Villa

Good homes to Everton Swansea and WBA plus away to Southampton and West Ham.  Are old fantasy premier league favourites like Darren Bent, N’Zogbia and Ireland worth a punt.

Tottenham

WBA Norwich and QPR visit White Hart Lane and an away fixture to reading make the likes of Bale VDV and Sigurdsson very attractive

Hopefully that will give some assistance in planning your opening team and judging who and what teams to look out for when the all important friendlies start.
