fantasy premier league – the early bandwagons and sinking ships for GW16

Fantasy Premier League

Here’s my view of the fantasy premier league bandwagons and sinking ships for GW16.  If your’e not familiar these are the 5  most transferred in and the 5 most transferred out players so far in the gameweek.  Remember its Champions League and Europa League this week so any early transfers of players involved in this carries injury risk.

The Bandwagons

Lukaku

There’s nothing like a Fulham home game to start a bandwagon.  Lukaku is the number one most transferred in so far to date.  Returned in 4 out of his last 5 games with 3 goals and 2 assists.  its now 8 goals and 3 assists for Everton in 11 games.  He’s been very consistent returning in 8 of those 11 games for a 73% consistency rate.  No top 4 challenging teams in the next 6 either.  Its a BUY for me

Suarez

Surely there aren’t nearly 30k people who didn’t own him?  Apparently so.  14 goals and 7 assists in the 10 games back so far.  Returned in 8/10 games so very consistent.  A great captain option as has returned in every home game.  A definite BUY even with 3 tricky fixtures in the next 6

Coleman

Again the attraction of Fulham at home and 8 clean sheets in 15 games so far.  Everton are an interesting defensive side with 3 distinct options to buy.  You’ve got Coleman the attacking option at £5.9m, Jagielka the bonus magnet at £5.9m  and Distin the budget option at £5.1m.  I definitely agree with the Everton defence as a buy. Which one really depends on how you want to structure your fantasy premier league defence

Howard

With the failure of Mignolet to get a clean sheet despite 3 games against the poorer attacking sides and the injury to Boruc fantasy premier league managers are on the lookout for an alternative.  Howard has been a target ever since his pen save against Villa.  Personally I think there are too many other attractions in the Everton defence with additional point potential to spend it on a GK but I rank the Everton defence definitely as a BUY

Hazard

Not for the faint hearted or the trigger happy transfer button manager.  If you buy him you have to accept a roller coaster ride of feast and famine.  The last 2 weeks were good examples.  Unplayable at Sunderland with 2 goals and an assist.  Unwatchable at Stoke without a shot.  However the facts are that he has scored 6 goals and 6 assists and started all but 1 of 15 games.  His minutes per fantasy premier league point is 13.5 which is very good.  He’s only returned in 6/15 games which is a 40% return rate which is the frustrating part.  He does have the best all round underlying shooting stats of any midfielder, Silva apart though as a comfort blanket.  The bandwagon this week though is the home game to Palace.  Hazard will get the chance to do what he does best, bully relegation threatened teams at Stamford Bridge.   A BUY with a health warning

The Sinking Ships

Giroud

His air shot against Everton which then rolled to Ozil to score can’t have helped him in the transferring out stakes yesterday.  PLus 1 returning game in his last 4 starts.  Also its the end  of 3 excellent fixtures for Arsenal.  With Suarez and Aguero a fixture in most fantasy premier league teams he is the natural casualty to get Lukaku or Rooney in.  Personally I see him as a sell at the moment for the reason of diminishing your Arsenal exposure as they have a run of tricky fixtures.  Ozil and Ramsey can easily be your coverage.  Plus its away to Man City and Chelsea H next.  SELL

Sturridge

Out with injury until 28 January.  That’s gameweek 23 to you and I.  SELL

Oscar

Has a return date on physio room of this week.  May be eased back with Schurrle and Mata getting more gametime and having some success.  It does depend on your team but I would be thinking long and hard before selling prior to a Palace home game

Gerrard

A hamstring injury with no return date.  Waiting on scan results.  With the fixtures coming thick and fast at this time of year even a few weeks can be crucial.  Plus there’s some hard games coming.  Assuming everyone owns Suarez is now the time to reduce your Liverpool attacking coverage to 1 player.  I think so.  A SELL for me.

Boruc

Out with a broken hand to 11 January ie gameweek 21.  A SELL unless you’ve got him as back up for a top 4 challenging keeper in which case you may want to hold on until the January wildcard.

That’s it hope it helps you with any fantasy premier league early transfers you may want to make
