The cheap rotations

Here’s my latest thoughts on those players for rotation where you pick teams so you will always have someone playing at home.  Statistically more clean sheets occur at home than away

Stoke and Swansea: Wilson (£4.5m) and N Taylor (£4.5m) plus GK Begovic (£5.0m) and GK Fabianski (£5.0m)

Both teams got clean sheets in GW3.  Swansea against a limp WBA and Stoke incredibly against Man City away.  Wilson also continued to keep Huth out of the side although it continues as a gametime risk. Both sides have fairly mixed underlying stats but you can’t argue with the results to date.

Stoke had 7 home clean sheets and Swansea 6 home clean sheets last season.  Home clean sheets this season to date:  Stoke 0  Swansea 2

Next 10 fixtures:   Leicester H, Southampton H, Newcastle H, Newcastle H, Swansea H, Leicester H, West Ham H, Arsenal H,  Burnley H, C Palace H

Potential clean sheets in the next 10:  5

Players in top 10 FPL managers:  Taylor 5

Leicester and Southampton:  Moore (£4.0m) and Clyne (£5.1m) plus Schmeichel (£4.5m) and Forster (£5.0m)

Southamptons defensive success of last year makes this quite an expensive partnership Southampton have looked strong defensively.  Leicester on the other hand have struggled but have had Everton and Arsenal to start with so deserve some latitude.  Fantastic fixtures.  If you want a more attacking option for Leicester then £4.5m Schlupp at  is playing LM.

Leicester had 9 clean sheets in the Championship last season.  Southampton had 7 clean sheets last season

Next 10 fixtures:  Newcastle H, Swansea A, QPR H, Burnley H, Sunderland H, Stoke H, WBA H, Leicester H, Sunderland H, QPR A

Potential clean sheets in the next 10:  5

Players in top 10 FPL managers:  Clyne 2

Burnley and Hull: Duff (£4.0m) and Chester (£4.6m) plus GK Heaton £4.5m and GK McGregor (£5.0m)

I’ve returned to Chester for Hull now he’s back from suspension as he has good attacking instincts.  Duff has some competition now from Man Utd loan player Michael Keane which we will have to see how it pans out.  Burnley though were impressive in the goalless draw with Man Utd.

Burnley had 11 Championship home clean sheets last season. Hull had 8 home clean sheets.  Home clean sheets this season to date:  Burnley 1 Hull 0

Next 10 fixtures:  West Ham H, Sunderland H, WBA A, Palace H, West Ham H, Everton H, Southampton H, Hull H, Stoke A. Villa H

Potential clean sheets in the next 10:  5

Players in top 10 FPL managers:  Chester 5, Duff 2, Bruce 1

Sunderland and Newcastle: Van Aanholt (£4.5m) and Coloccini (£4.5m) plus GK Mannone (£4.5m) and GK Krul (£4.5m)

Sunderland are a strong team at home and should get clean sheets.  Newcastle certainly weren’t solid at all against Palace and look the worrying part of this combination.  Cheapie Dummett lost his place to Haidara

Newcastle and Sunderland had 6 clean sheets each last season.  Home clean sheets this season to date:  Sunderland 0 Newcastle 0

Next 10 fixtures:   Spurs H, Hull A, Swansea H, Stoke H, Leicester H, Spurs A, Palace A, Everton H,  QPR H, West Ham A

Potential clean sheets in the next 10: 4

Players in top 10 FPL managers:  Krul 6, Van Aanholt 2, Dummett 1, Coloccini 1

Palace and QPR: Ward (£4.9m) and Ferdinand (£4.5m) plus GK Speroni (£5.0m) and GK Green (£4.5m)

Neither side have covered themselves in glory so far this season defensively and with Palace still at Pulis type values look a risky bet. Kelly for Palace could be value at £4.5m  if he can continue to hold his place.   Good fixtures.

Palace had 8 home clean sheets last season. QPR had 10 in the Championship.  Home clean sheets this season to date:  Palace 0  QPR 1

Next 10 fixtures:   Burnley H, Stoke H, Leicester H, Hull A, Chelsea A, Villa H, Sunderland H, Man City H, Newcastle A, Leicester H

Potential clean sheets in the next 10:  4

Players in top 10 FPL managers:  Ferdinand 2 Green 1

Aston Villa and WBA: Hutton (£4.1m) and Pocognoli (£4.4m) plus GK Guzan (£4.5m) and GK Foster (£4.5m)

A perfect pair as rotate home and away for policing reasons.  Hutton seems to have nailed his place so looks the best Villa bet now.  Pocognoli is expected to be fit for GW4.  I’ve avoided Wisdom as Gamboa is now fit.  WBA gave a hint of their defensive challenges when they were soundly beaten by Swansea. Fixtures aren’t easy.

Aston Villa and WBA both had 4 home clean sheets last season.  Home clean sheets this season to date:  Aston Villa 1 WBA 0

Next 10 fixtures:  Everton H, Arsenal H, Burnley H, Man City H, Man Utd H, C Palace H, Spurs H, Newcastle H, Southampton H, Burnley A

Potential clean sheets in next 10:  3

Players in top 10 FPL managers:  Hutton 3, Vlaar 1, Wisdom 4,

The bargain basement options

Hutton £4.1m

A good cheap option who seems gametime secure at the moment in a Villa team who’ve started well defensively.  Doesn’t have a great attacking record despite getting forward but you can’t have everything at this price.

Moore £4.0m

Not too bad defensive performances from Leicester and Moore looks solid gametime wise

Duff£4.0m

The cheapie Burnley CB is good value especially after Burnley defended so well against Man Utd.  Michael Keane coming on loan does give some gametime risk though

Those with gametime doubts:

Dummett – Lost his place to Haidara and must now be a doubt

Wisdom – has Gamboa in his shadow

Bruce – Dawson joining should be the end even in 3-5-2
