fantasy premier league best fixtures GW12 – the fixture ease schedule

Just to clarify this was written before Mondays game of Huddersfield v Fulham

We’ve also added good fixture clumps at the end for you to be aware of before transfers in and out. There’s also another relatively new feature. Hunting out the not so fabulous 4.

An introduction

My intention at the moment is to take the fixture difficulty ranking from the Official FPL site with some slight adjustments. That schedule doesn’t differentiate between attack and defence and is an overall ranking. You will see their fixture difficulty when you look at a player in detail on the FPL site.

The schedule below uses the official rankings to rank them from easiest at the top to hardest at the bottom. The order of the teams is for GW12-17. The figure in the right hand column is the ranking from from GW12-14

FE Rank Team FE Rank
GW12-17 GW12-14
1 Brighton 1
2 Newcastle 3
3 West Ham 10
4 Huddersfield 2
5 Leicester 6
6 Cardiff 7
7 Burnley 4
8 Liverpool 5
9 Wolves 8
10 Spurs 14
11 Arsenal 15
12 Watford 9
13 Southampton 11
14 C Palace 17
15 Chelsea 12
16 Man Utd 13
17 Man City 16
18 Bournemouth 18
19 Fulham 20
20 Everton 19

So here I give attacking and defensive player suggestions for players with good 6 week and 3 week fixtures. This week it’s Brighton, Newcastle, Huddersfield and Leicester. I’ve also added on West Ham as their excellent run is only distorted by Man City in the middle

Brighton

With Pascal Gross injured the only attacking option for me is Glenn Murray. The wingers in Jahanbakhsh and Izquierdo have yet to produce any stats of note and are only a few starts in. That continued this week v Brighton.  With Gross having coming back when fit who out of those 2 and March goes to the bench remains to be seen.

£6.6m Fwd Murray has scored 6 goals and 0 assists in 9 starts plus 2 as sub at a PP90 of 5.2 . As I said last week an important question is whether he retains penalty duties when Gross returns to the team. That could be in the near future but as ever with these things the clubs give pretty unhelpful information.

Defensively I’d go for Duffy at £4.6m although Dunk at £4.4m if you fall just short cash wise. The £4.5m GK Ryan is also an option

Cardiff (A)
Leicester (H)
Huddersfield (A)
Crystal Palace (H)
Burnley (A)
Chelsea (H)

Huddersfield

No attacking options here for me. Huddersfield have scored the least goals so far this season and have have the lowest xG.

Defensively it’s much the same. Schindler is cheap at £4.3m but even at that price their are better options in other teams

West Ham (H)
Wolves (A)
Brighton (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Arsenal (A)
Newcastle (H)

Leicester

2 attacking players here for me Vardy and Maddison

£7.0m Mid Maddison has scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 11 starts at a PP90 of 5.0.  He does have set piece responsibility often plays centrally and creates chances.  He underlying stats are poor in terms of goal threat even though he does shoot alot.  Has also been subbed twice in the 70 minute range in the last 4 and has no returns in his last 4.

£9.0m Fwd Vardy has scored 3 goals and 1 assist in 7 starts and 2 sub appearances at a PP90 of 4.6.  He has been killing the underlying stats though and just hasn’t seen the returns he’s deserved.  Has penalty duties as well.

Defensively I’d go for £5.0m LB Chilwell.  £4.5m Morgan is more price appropriate for Leicester but I can’t in a million years see how he’s keeping Jonny Evans out of the side

Burnley (H)
Brighton (A)
Watford (H)
Fulham (A)
Spurs (H)
Crystal Palace (A)

Newcastle

2 potential attacking players here in Kenedy, Ritchie although neither are exactly smashing it.  I would have included Perez but he was a sub at the weekend.

£4.9m Mid Kenedy has scored 1 goal and 0 assists in 9 starts plus 1 as sub at a PP90 of 3.0m.  The underlying stats are terrible as well.  Last season they were ok so not sure how much is a distortion due to tough starting fixtures.

£5.8m Mid Ritchie has scored 0 goals and 1 assist in 10 starts plus 0 as sub at a PP90 of 2.70.  Has some set piece involvement.  Underlying stats don’t help either.

Bournemouth (H)
Burnley (A)
West Ham (H)
Everton (A)
Wolves (H)
Huddersfield (A)

West Ham

There’s no doubt the key player here is forward Arnautovic. The other is a no longer a  punt on Anderson

£7.1m Fwd Arnautovic has scored 5 goals and 2 assists in 9 starts plus 0 as sub at a PP90 of 6.3.  It would be useful to get clarification on pens of him vs Noble.  I suspect Noble will have them when he comes back from suspension in GW13.

£6.8m Mid Anderson has scored 3 goals and 1 assist in 11 starts plus 0 as sub at a PP90 of 4.3.  His 2 goals vs Burnley finally saw some reward for some sometimes good and reasonably good overall underlying stats

There’s also £4.5m mid Diangana who’s started the last 3 as a RM if you’re looking for something different on the bench

Defensively £4.4m CB Balbuena looks a good attacking option.

Huddersfield (A)
Man City (H)
Newcastle (A)
Cardiff (H)
Crystal Palace (H)
Fulham (A)
Watford (H)
Southampton (A)
Burnley (A)
Brighton (H)

Some good short term future fixture clumps

Wolves

GW13 Huddersfield (H)
GW14 Cardiff (A)

Think about Jimenez. Doherty in defence

Arsenal

GW16 Huddersfield (H)
GW17 Southampton (A)
GW18 Burnley (H)

Think about Lacazette, Aubameyang and Ozil. Monreal in defence if fit.

Hunting out the not so fabulous 4

At the moment Fulham, Huddersfield, Cardiff and Burnley seem significantly worse than the rest defensively.

Lets first check out who’s playing them in GW12 and some attacking suggestions

Cardiff – Brighton H (Murray)

Burnley – Leicester A (Vardy, Maddison)

  1. Great work geek. Will be interesting how brighton go against the flop 4 given they dont look like they have many goals in them. Murray is tempting but the attack is uninspiring
